Good day to you. You have reached the second 42 discussions of Sir MacMania of Uncyc.
A few matters of note:
- Here you will find a hallowed archive of the first 42 topics.
- This is an archive itself. If you want to talk to me, talk to me on my non-archived talkpage.
So yeah, welcome to the archives.

Way to post in the worst possible place. Er, long story. Last feature nomination it had, I voted against it, disowned it, and kicked it out of my flat. But when I saw it on VFH again, I was just so proud—*sob*—I'm sorry, can I have a tissue? How did I know The Doctor would be featured when it had a lower score than any article up for VFH? Can you say "time travel?" And I did tell you about it earlier. Think about it, and maybe you'll remember that day when you were lying in your crib, and this man you'd never seen before told you, "On 21 July 2009 go to a place called Uncyclopedia and look for The Doctor. When you don't find him, make him." King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  04:32, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia:Pee Review/User:MacMania/H2G2[edit source]

Yes, somebody finally did a Pee Review of H2G2 and that reviewer happened to be me. Sorry you had to wait so long for somebody to finally agree to review this--I think there's a backlog because several active users wrote during summer vacation and then went back to school before reviews could be written. And I don't know how I missed it. This is based on version 4090967 of 8 September 2009 which as of this moment is the most current version. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? Congratulations for whatever it was[edit source]

I noticed they just added your name as a Knight or Dame Grand Cross (GUN). I thought you already were one, but maybe your name just hadn't gotten added yet. Miley had been a CUN for a month without being listed, and just added her own name (and mine too, because I'M NOOB OF THE MONTH!, which is why I noticed your name had been added). So congrats for whatever it was, although it's not for being a noob, as I'M NOOB OF THE MONTH! Maybe it was mentioned on the main page or something, but every time I got there all I see is I'M NOOB OF THE MONTH! Also I noticed you've been hogging featured articles lately. If this continues, I will write completely bogus Pee Reviews of your articles. So please don't let this happen again. There are many, many examples of how to write really bad articles out there--heck, most of the articles on this very site would qualify as very bad. Please read them and learn how not to write. Thank you. And by the way, did I mention I'M NOOB OF THE MONTH! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:53, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

Red Dwarf was waiting in the wings but now[edit source]

In case you don't yet know, User:MacMania/Red Dwarf has been nommed for VFH. I know you had wanted a second Pee Review, so I'm waiting to vote until I hear from you. I would feel good about voting for it, but not if you'd rather have soneone else review it first. Also I hope you see this, as I know you're attempting to have a life. If you do find one for yourself, could you look for one for me? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  04:25, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

It was next on my list of stuff to review. I had been avoiding it as Mac's stuff is depressingly difficult to review as the articles are excellent, yet I feel honour bound to criticise them. Also, don't bother with a life, they are useful, but overrated, a bit like sliced bread. --ChiefjusticeDS 13:29, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
Sliced bread? Overrated? You mean it's not the greatest thing ever? That means I need to find a new cliché! Let's see. I've got it! X is the greatest thing since actually getting a life! Oh wait. It got removed from VFH because it's in your user space, and technically not yet submitable. I would Pee Review it, but I did the first one and really think you could derive more benefit from a second opinion from a second person. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? 2001: A Space Pee Review[edit source]

I Pee Reviewed User:MacMania/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey based on version 4142493 of 6 Oct. 2009. I hope my review helps. (And are you getting the impression I like writing messages on your talk page?) King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  02:33, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry I haven't looked over your post-PEE revisions yet. I was planning to do it by now, but just got in a long discussion about fixing a problem. I'll look it over in less than 24 hours from now. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:46, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

I just read through 2001 again. I think the polishing you've done has greatly improved it. I do have just a few points (some of these I mentioned before, and you may either not have had time to work on them or don't agree with my opinion, which is of course fine.)

"Because shape doesn't matter a bit in the vacuum of space. The USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D did not take the news very well."--I don't get this caption, as the Enterprise isn't aerodynamically designed either.

"The upshot of rapid ageing is the fact that my mid-life crisis lasts only so many minutes."--I like this better than what you had before, but would like it even better as "...only lasted a few minutes."

On my computer, File:2001-44.png overlaps File:2001-45.png at the corner, cutting off the first part of "...e dimensions...." (the last part of an "n" before the "e" is the first letter I see).

"Arthur C. Clarke's novel was written concurrently with the screenplay for 2001, and feature (features) pretty much the same events...."

"Literary critics believe that Kubrick and Clarke, were they really trying to point out the impending doom of well-used English, could have had multiple field days looking at txtspk."--this section reads a little awkward to me (I'd like "have a field day" better than "multiple field days").

"...the prevalent popular opinion of the film...." (prevalent popular is redundant).

My suggestion is make a few fixes, move it to main space and tell me right away so I can nom the thing for VFH. If you don't mind. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  21:17, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

I posted suggestions on my talk page. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  00:46, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

So few votes, so much time left[edit source]

I'm sorry 2001: ASO is doing so terribly on the VFH page. Must be embarrassing. Seriously, as an unsigned IP voter said, your article is largely a description of the real movie and not a takeoff. Yet it's gotten more votes than anything up right now, even though Red Dwarf got votes against because it was largely a description of the real television program and not a takeoff. Weird. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  17:33, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Things work differently for different things, as redundant as that may sound. If you notice, Red Dwarf followed Firefly even more closely (random other entity intro? check. origins, setting, character, legacy in that order? pretty much check. gradual progression of images in increasing relevance? check), but ended up looking in my eyes like a rambling article unlike Firefly. Also UU voted against Red Dwarf, which for is pretty much a sign that it's doomed as it is.
But anyway ... yeah. 2001's my strongest article yet! Naturally I'm thrilled (and another for vote just registered as I was typing this) that that one worked pretty well. And you know what? Health is at 420% right now! Let's see if it can be featured that way! Also, congratulations on being the first writer to have his article's score go over 20 in, like, two months. Necropaxx (T) {~} Wednesday, 22:05, Oct 14

It's all because of my Pee Review! That article was nothing but a big slab of black nothingness until I Pee Reviewed it! Now it's full of stars! Parallel Parking[edit source]

Hey thanks for the review on Parallel Parking! I actually found it incredibly helpful (unlike some other pee reviews). I also thought it might have focused too much on the road test aspect of it, so I went back and added more parallel parking related content (I also fixed some spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors as well). If you don't want to re-review it that's fine, it'd be good to get someone elses opinion on it, but if there are any more suggestions for it just let me know. Hey MacMania[edit source]

First of all, welcome back! It's nice to see one of my favorite all-time users come back for the summer or however long you decide to stay. Secondly, as I'm sure you've noticed, the Pee Queue is pretty friggin' backlogged. I'll review one or two of your gems-in-the-making if you could bring yourself to take a look at this for me. Oh, and thirdly, you really should finish your piece on lens flare--like, seriously, before JJ Abrams makes another Star Trek movie. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 23:11, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

Yay, hullo! Good to see you too. Oh yeah, I definitely noticed that backlog, since I'm responsible for a good portion of it. I'll see what feedback I can give about OH MY GOSH YOU MEAN THAT BEHIND THE MUSIC?! [runs off]
Oh, and yeah, I realise I really should get back to User:MacMania/Lens flare, and I already am thinking about what more I can say about the artistic elements of it, but as I said, I am spreading my pixie dust a bit thin. I do hope I can get back to it somehow while I'm here, though. The current lens flare article in mainspace is a bit bleh. For donating high quality material to the Pee Review.

I'm going to mainspace the article, fix those couple things you mentioned, add some categories, and see how VFH treats it. Oh, and review an article or two of yours these next few days. Thanks Mac. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 00:29, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, also also, I nominated the article on VFH. And I'll be betting to reviewing your Melville/Moby Dick article as soon as I can. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 00:56, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Thankyou[edit source]

I really enjoyed your pee review for Whitecastle it was spot on. I feltvthe same in many areas but was stuck at the time due to other involvments. Shyamalan[edit source]

I noticed your comment on the VFH page for Suddenly, Raccoons. Basically I just felt like sharing this and this with you. Funny stuff. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 16:45, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Which in turn reminds me of this. Honestly, were The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable flukes?! Because I really, really liked Unbreakable, but The Village was pretty hard to watch, and the blogosphere seems to adamantly tell me to stay away from Avatar (both of 'em—OK, at least the 3D one's pretty to look at). Maybe it's just bad marketing, story and casting. I have no idea, honestly. I've actually not seen any post-The Village Shyamalan, and I'm thankful I haven't. And while The Sixth Sense is a legitimately good movie, Signs is retarded and The Village has no depth to it beyond the twist that I suspected from the beginning; I can't even imagine the shittiness of the others. So, to answer your rhetorical question, yeah, they probably were. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 19:26, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Conjecture: you know a movie is good when you already know how it ends because of people helplessly babbling about it. (Conjecture 2: that conjecture is probably wrong because the same is probably also true of how to discern really bad movies; I just can't remember any right now.) Daily Fascist[edit source]

Massively improved, thanks for that! I'm not sure the F is quite the same as the actual Mail header, but it's so much better in every other way I don't see that it matters. After all, I doubt many UKer Uncyclopedians are Mail readers and the Yanks will be unfamiliar with it, so who'll notice? :-) Rabbi Techno Icons-flag-gb.png kvetch Icon rabbi.gif Contribs Foxicon.png FOXES 13:44, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome! Apparently from what I gathered (from time to time I'm just really interested in learning about fonts), the Mail logo is hand-drawn, so I tried my best to have the other letters fit the aesthetic. The F was tricky because I really couldn't find one that was blocky in the way the D was, but oh well. Glad you like it! Melville's Encyclopaedia, or, Your Article[edit source]

I've gone through it once again, and all your changes are absolutely superb. The throw-away Hawthorne joke was excellent, the Starbuck joke was just what I suggested/expected and therefore awesome, and the recurring joke of everyone being of questionable sanity was quite funny, as was the "occupational hazard" running joke. (Plus you linking to this bolstered my ego ever so slightly.) If I were you, I'd mainspace this mothah, put it up for another pee review just to get a second opinion (as those are always nice), and put it up for highlight. Or you could just skip most of that, and put it up for highlight as I'd probably vote for it. Either way, I really like what you've done with it. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 02:32, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Hurrah! Thanks. I'll put this up for another review—already got to moving it to mainspace before you even mentioned it (behold the power of being a fan of a British time-travelling sci-fi series as well as an American one)—because, yes, those definitely help. Thanks again for being such a good reviewer! Just realised it's 0400 which means barely any sleep for me again, but hey, it's the summer ... so I'll try to get around to lens flare sometime during it, though judging by how much I'm clogging the review queue up, can't exactly say that's a promise. Nice! I like using little-used pics on my pages, lots of nooks and grannies to search here. An admission of ignorance: I have no idea how to get a pic from somewhere, say wikipedia, and upload it to here. Have tried many times and always fail. So I use what we have in our back unplowed fields. And Lens flare, if you photoshop why not do a famous Ansel Adams pic and lens flare it? That thought just came to me as I was typing. Enough, I must log off and go do stuff in the sun or moon or whatever is sitting "up there" (really "out there") now. Al 22:36 24 7

In and out. You mention camera obscura on your page. Have you seen what I consider the best article, or at least wayyyy up there, on the site, this one here, left by a researcher when another site finally caught on. I nommed it for VFH, it lingered for weeks, even after I was forced by the rabbling crowd to tastefully funny it up a bit--almost a sacrilege I tells ya--and it finally missed. Some people loved it others huh? wha?. All in all, if you like it maybe you can link it to those honored words, Camera Obscura. Flared, Aleister in Chains 00:21 25 7

I can see why people thought it was a bit too subtle—the sheer absurdity of someone with a blasted pinhole camera being able to take pictures like a WWI photojournalist in the English Civil War might not be obvious to a drive-by reader. Nonetheless, I shall honour its high-minded concept and impeccablenessibility with a link. HowTo:Be Japanese[edit source]

Here you are, most honorable MacMania-san (-kun?). —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 03:33, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm. I think Part 2c is good as it is--like you said, short and bitter. Section 2a doesn't need to be drastically reduced so much as it needs to be written slightly differently. I think here you either want to play up or play down the whole "undercutting the HowTo: genre" thing. And 2b could use some expansion to better establish the running joke. Things in the vein of, say "Getting married to a Japanese citizen shouldn't be too hard, as Japanese people are only 9/10ths as picky regarding non-Japanese as their government is" should establish the premise of each joke that much better, and then heighten the impact of the running joke that much more. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 13:28, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

After looking it over[edit source]

Hm, I like the direction you've taken with it--acknowledging the whole "HowTo" thing makes your intentions clear, and the fact that you dumped many of your weaker one liners to focus on your running jokes is certainly a move in the right direction. A couple things, though:

1) When you get to the "um, this is awkward section", the tone change is very abrupt--it was abrupt before, but now that you've gotten rid of many of the Uncyclopedia passés, it's even more so. What I'd recommend is writing that section in a tone more in line with your privious ones. Something like "Third Option: You Don't Actually Want to Live in Japan, and Just Wanted to See Me Mock Those People (the Japanese)," then "If this is the case, it would not only explain why you are reading this HowTo, but why you are on this site in general. Have you no sense of racial senstivity? [insert North joke here] Perhaps you really should go back in time and murder your father, as the world really would be a better place with out you, seeing as you're not only a terribly unconvincing liar, but something of a racist as well..." and pursue that angle. Then have your bit at the end where you throw in all those stereotypes and acknowledge them.

2) There are a few instances when I think the "this should not be a problem" should more correctly read "these should not be a problem. The "This should not..." after the first set of bullet points in the "Bureaucracy" section is one exmaple of that.

So yeah, I hope that was all helpful, Mac. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 03:30, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Hey there[edit source]

My hole review was going stupid on me, i think it had something to do with you editing it the same time i was. Anyways thanks for the tip. You've got the balls of an elephant, sir, and the writing ability to match. Aleister 23:21 30 7

Don't tell anyone, but it's all part of an occult magic recipe for writing skills. "Eye of newt, and elephant's testes"—I forgot the rest, but I think it might turn up on Google. Don't ask why elephant's testes improve comedy writing skills.

I'm hoping the eye of Newt has a fat Republican attached to it. Since you took this direction, someone who shall remain with no name taught me that the reason the old timey and some new timey wizards/witches had such complicated rituals with "special" ingredients they had to find or make is that the subconscious has to realize that we're serious about the things we ask for. It's all to trick/convince (same thing) the creative mechanism that shapes the world for us that we want something strongly enough. Al few minutes later
And here I was, ignorant of human psychology, thinking it was mildly magical or something. Then again, I should know, because I trick myself out a lot. Wait, that came out wrong. MacManiasig.png MacManiasig-cheerios.png MacManiasig-holmes.png MacManiasig-starwars.png MacManiasig-firefly.png MacManiasig-pixar.png MacManiasig-oregon.png MacManiasig-lesmiz.png MacManiasig-doctor.png HalLogo.png Portal16px.png UncycLensFlare16px.pngDalek16px.png ChekhovSig.pngJapanSig.png Sir MacMania GUN[23:39 30 Jul 2010]
Tricks are for kids. Cute kids, with button noses. Jerry Lee Lewis type child brides, ah. Anywho, very magical process, as the shaping of the world in one's personal universe is far removed from psychology, human or other warm mammal or cold blooded Paul regardless. And why have you been holding on to all your gem articles? Your feature pages are as good, and it's nice to see theses in the light of day. Al minutes later
Dalek was stuck in the review queue, and the others were waiting for a second review for further enhancements. But I (and Socky, bless him in a secular manner) decided to give them a go anyhow. Oh, and if you took a peek at my userpage, you'd know I'm still holding on to some more uncut gems, mostly in userspace. Also, tricks are for kids, but they're grrrrreat! Wait, did I just put Tony the Tiger with the Trix Rabbit so that I could frosty flake while I trix? Anal sex[edit source]

Since the failed VFH nomination of anal sex in mid-July, I've taken to fixing up the page. ChiefjusticeDS got around to reviewing it, scoring it 42/50 and making a number of recommendations. I've taken his suggestions to heart and improved the page in the areas he pointed out. The fact that it scored so well on Pee Review, combined with my personal opinion that it's a pretty good article, is causing me to ask: What made you vote against it? If there were any changes that could be made that would turn it into an article you could support, what would they be? --Andorin Kato 18:58, August 1, 2010 (UTC)
