Windsor, Ontario[edit source]

Welcome! and I appreciate the detailing you are doing to pages all over the place. On American versus British spelling, local policy is to use the spelling appropriate to the subject. "Liscense"--which you corrected--is not a word anywhere, but in Windsor, it would be "licence"--and all their shopping centers are centres. If neither nationality is clearly right, sometimes we just let the primary author use his own spelling.

On 1970's, I expected Shertzer to be on my side, but all she says is that "the omission of the apostrophe is gaining ground." But if I wanted to write '70s (or 'Seventies), I'd definitely omit a second apostrophe. Cheers. Spıke ¬ 22:45 23-Nov-12

let me try this signature thing ~~<FakeHater/>~~ ok i don't think that's right

No, just the four tildes. Ignore my source code. More details at UN:SIG. Spıke ¬ 22:52 23-Nov-12

on the topic of the british vs american spelling, i need to more closely read the body of the article to get a sense of the topic's origin. i will look out for that now Fakehater (talk) 22:55, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Sounds good. You figured out the signature thing. Also please indent (start paragraph with one or more colons) to make it clearer who's talking when. I stick to a given indentation level throughout a conversation; most everyone else just keeps indenting until they run out of screen (which happens to me very quickly because of my choice of hardware). Spıke ¬ 23:02 23-Nov-12

will do on indenting Fakehater (talk) 23:07, November 23, 2012 (UTC)
Regards spelling - US v British, as long as the article is one or either, then it doesn't matter. I think it becomes distracting if an article contains both - unless of course that is the 'joke' you are putting across. It is not so hard to spot if English isn't your first language. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:04, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
Sure it matters! British spelling in, say, an article on the US government or a US television network would likewise be a distraction; unless, as you say, that were the joke. Spıke ¬ 12:12 24-Nov-12
