What aboot the rest of us, eh?[edit source]
Where do we go aboot signing if we want UGotM to stay gone? (Incidentally, it's International Talk like a Canuck Day. Support your local hoser. Beauty.) Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 17:47, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. I noticed that the page still exists, even though it lost the VFD. Maybe we should sign here. -- • <-> 18:16, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- It was locked but left there as a memorial to the fallen. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 19:30, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- F*ck memorials. This "fallen person" needs a tombstone. WE ALREADY VOTED, the page died. There should not be a signature gathering place. It failed VFD. -- • <-> 20:09, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think the page should be locked for "historical" purposes, like Tom mayfair said, but voting should no longer be active. If a user is being disruptive, there's other alternatives, say, you can temporarily ban them, and if there really disruptive, we can infi-ban them as we did with Jamesryanjcrjcr. I think you are taking it a bit to seriosusly Cajek, I'm sorry about the nomination, I think I was in a bad mood when II nominated and you are far from "useless". --Sir Manforman 20:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Hahah, I've been meaning to VFD this for a long time, and was quite happily surprised to find it deleted. I need to pay attention to VFD more! Anyway, there's nothing wrong with keeping it as a locked page to show who won it before, but it is kinda wrong having a "poll" with only one possible answer - either you want it back or you're not allowed to be in the poll? That's a petition, people. And everyone knows petitions are useless.
If you want it back, I'd say there needs to be a full VD vote, not just a petition on a user subpage. But that's likely to generate a lot of drama and ill will as it is, so why bother? Who's really losing out by having the "award" gone? • Spang • ☃ • talk • 10:08, 20 Sep 2007
- At least we have reasons to "delete". The 12+ people who signed to keep the petition had bad reasons simply saying "It's a joke, Don't take it seriously." How is it a joke... seriously???--Sir Manforman 22:18, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- In the beginning, people would nominate/vote for people they actually liked, in the same way you might make fun of your friends in good spirit; the intention is/was not to express dislike, just make a good-natured joke at their expense. That's not a bad thing, most people do that with their friends all the time. However, the only thing it is used for now, is for people to find someone they actually don't like, and proclaim that fact in award format, and possibly try and get others who would otherwise have no opinion to dislike them too. There is no good nature to it any more, and it's verging on cyber-bullying en masse.
- "It's always been there" and "it's part of the history" is a non-starter as far as excuses for it go - slavery was always there, doesn't make it a good thing. Not to mention that the UGotM now is very different from the UGotM of a year ago.
- Also, I only just noticed that the VFD vote lasted only 8 and a half hours, immediately followed by a (one-sided) "bring it back" petition by ZB, who closed the VFD vote? WTF? Why not just vote in the VFD, like everyone else? • Spang • ☃ • talk • 10:41, 20 Sep 2007
- I agree with Spang. Bring it Back to VFD. (S)he has made great points, saying "It's always been there" and "it's part of the history". I think I recall Elvis winning it when it was first created, than ZB won it not long after and even when Braydie won in March, 2007, that was a joke. Now, it's being rewarded to idiots like Ohadaloni and Zeldafan500. I doubt it will every be a "joke" and therefore should remain locked.--Sir Manforman 22:54, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- However, on a positive note, from the second you were nominated, M4M, you have been about 20x more productive around the site. However, that said, often it doesn't come to such happy endings. Instead, it usually ends up being what initially happened with Manforman's situation, multiplied by ten, no happy ending. Nobody collects 200 dollars by passing Go. It's just a waste.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 23:16, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

- To answer Spang, I put it in VFD, then Zombie closed it and didn't delete the page! Then he banned me for reverting his edits (I didn't know)!! -- • <-> 23:18, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
