Dear screen,

I'm a regular contributor to french Uncyclopedia branch (and no it's not an oxymoron, or even an oxy) and I was wondering if i could translate one of my article in the language of Britney Shakespears on the Uncyclopedia. It's not a deep thought article, just un 1st degree humour quiz that one could translate "Quiz : How stupid are you". If the answer is YES, I need help for 2 things : in my original article, i use a special model allowing to drop-down a box of text after clicking on a link named "dérouler" (even if you don'un understand french language, you can check what i'm talking about in the article). Is there anything similar here or do I have the possibility to import this model from the Désensyclopédie. Second thing I would need help for is grammar and syntax. English is not ma native language (yeah, i know, you noticed that already), and i don't want to publish a text full of crappy mistakes. Thx. WiiKend 13:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Negative Potato

Just made a few alterations, which I hope improve the article - do of course feel free to revert if you preferred it as it previously was. I have to say, when I first read the piece, I didn't guess you were not a native English speaker because your English spelling and grammar is very good. Thank for modifications and comments. Unfortunatly i'm not the original writer of the french version of this article (I wish I thought about this brilliant concept) but I always appreciated it and as the potato is somehow the symbol of uncyclopedia, i thought it would perfectly fit here. The french article is a bit longer but I was unable to translate it all with the same humour, basically because of some puns which are almost impossible to translate. Hope it will be featured but i guess the current score (3 / 3) is not that good (it's a featured article on french uncyclopedia by the way) WiiKend 11:57, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Negative Potato Rewrite

Actually WiiKend I wouldn't mind helping, um, steal transfer some articles from the French Uncyc. I can read French enough to get the gist of what is being said, so we could work together on what are generally considered to be the best French articles (assuming that they would translate well to an English-speaking culture). My French is awful (spoken), I'm much better at reading, but it's still been 5 or so years since I learnt at school. It's still good enough to get the girls, bien sur! That doesn't need the French language though, just a French accent and a bit of improvisation ;)

But back to the main issue, I have looked over a few articles on desencyclopedie and find it a little more difficult to get the subtleties (is there sometimes use of more colloquial French?) that I was hoping. I can get the gist though. Also, if we were to do a translation collab we'd just do it in turns whenever we're bored/not doing anything else, so you could just correct whatever I mis-translate, or I could improve whatever English you have written (not that your English is bad, by a long way) --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 21:18, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

lol, I meant "awful" up there, not "awesome", sorry, also don't worry about offending any of us, if it's funny anything is good. I looked at your 2001: A Space Odyssey article (by chance I am reviewing a 2001 article over here) and you put a helluva lot of work in! It's very good, but very different to ours. Over here self-reference and minimalism is all the rage in director/film articles, so we dont have anything quite as ambitious as that version by you. Hi WiiKend, I'll have a look at what you've done so far. Also, I'm going to set up a general "Translation Portal" on my user page (until I get permission to set one up somewhere more important) that can act as a more accessible bridge between the various uncyclopedias. Any suggestion for a witty name? Bear in mind it will really just be a list of pages (under "Czech" "French" "English" "Spanish" etc...) people have recommended, or are working on translating. It'd be a good way of getting new ideas into each uncyclopedia and freshening things up a little, what do you think?

Yeah "mommies and pappies" = mums and dads, don't worry about that. As for the actual article being ugly, I don't think it really is. It could do perhaps with a conclusion, or something more to the latter half, but I don't think it's ugly per se. Perhaps it justs needs a little bit of formatting to make it clear that the two voices are different. I like the first image, but perhaps it could do with another image afterwards. I definitely think it needs a conclusion, but since this is a straight translation, I feel it is a bit cheeky for me to say this. --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 09:25, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
