| Humour: | 8 | Athough this isn't "LOL" funny, this is one of the most clever articles I've ever read. Tying in the stereotypically Jewish obsession with money with the numerous genocides the Jews have gone through as a means of "raising their asking price" is perhaps the wittiest thing I've heard/read/listened to in quite a while; hats off to whomever thought that up. Another excellent bit about this is the constant use of various Jewish stereotypes without the use of said stereotypes seeming seeming tired or cliched or obvious (as such things often do). My only real complaint is that there were no real gut-bursting moments, although given the more (comparitively speaking) high-brow direction IC went with this that really can't be remedied. |
| Concept: | 10 | I'll say it again: kudos to whomever thought up that "Jews raising their asking price" thing. Also, Jews exist, and therefore their article has some level of pertience. |
| Prose and formatting: | 9 | The writing's great, and the use of the old Rabbi dude speaking to all the "new Jews" as a framing device is exceptionally clever. My own real complaint is that said framing device hasn't got much to do with the rest of the article, and the transitions between the Rabbi and the "main" article seem a tad bit forced at times, although this would be hard to remedy so don't worry about it too much. |
| Images: | 6 | The images are sparse, and the captions don't match the feel of the rest of the article. The first and final images are alright, and the Jesus one's kinda standard, but the flaming Star of David and its caption are lame. I'd suggest getting a two-three more pictures (after removing the flaming star one), and caption them as quotes the Rabbi is saying. Get, like, a picture of Hitler, and have the caption be like "Hitler, now there was a real schlemdrik" or whatever, and then repeat this for all the images. |
| Miscellaneous: | 9 | Fix the images and this'll be one fucking great feature. I'd advise against nominating it (I'm certainly not going to) until the images are improved. |
