2005[edit source]

Steve Ballmer on Firefox[edit source]

er .. shouldn't that be Oscar Wilde? User:84.184.215.253 16:11, September 13, 2005

  • Uhh, no. You should look do some research on Steve Ballmer if you don't get the joke. --KUK nerd 03:59, July 19, 2006

Disambiguation, maybe?[edit source]

This article discusses a number of different things and comes across as a bunch of unrelated stubs glommed together, I think it should be split and turned into a disambiguation page as is much more in line with appropriate style. I am about to add the split template as seems appropriate to me. --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 04:05, 2 Dec 2005 (UTC)

2006[edit source]

Rewrite[edit source]

In an attempt to resolve ambiguity, I have begun a rewrite: Mozilla Firefox/rewrite, which aims to unite all different Firefoxes (browser, fox etc.) into one entity. Comments/suggestions? - Sikon 06:00, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Excellent, excellent work. This is one of the funnier articles on here. --Poofers 11:31, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Where's Clint?[edit source]

Can it be possible to have a scene of Clint wearing the helmet in the 1982 film? That was a great movie... -- 69.248.43.27 06:50, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Needs to be animated[edit source]

This would make a perfect show. If anyone out there can provide funding for an animation studio, and is willing to operate in some country that has no copyright law, contact me. Ihavenolife 02:56, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

  • And Mozilla would sue them for trademark infridgement, regardless of the country, if it's distributed outside that country :). Although I do dream of either a cartoon series or a comic series... - Sikon 09:29, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Then change the names! --JD User:24.76.229.115 22:44, April 22, 2006

Teh pr0n?[edit source]

We need teh nekkid pix of teh FF! --71.245.247.194 19:20, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

with pics like those... surely 'spread firefox' refers to something very dirty indeed --Huffers 11:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
You need more than one site...71.34.249.233 23:05, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Not enough links. This place needs more! Maybe something with tentacles? -Unsigned

Bon Echo Alpha 1[edit source]

Someone needs to incorporate this into the article. I'll try... I have no clue where to put this / how to word it, so I'll just leave it up to you faithful uncyclopedians to decide. ;-) 24.55.108.209 01:01, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Unnecessary Red Links[edit source]

Why were they removed? I found them hilarious. It was a joke, just as unnecessary as everything else in this site ;-) I put them back in, anyone object? Fishos 22:05, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry, but they seemed to lead into a lot of nonsense. --JD User:KUK nerd 20:16, June 27, 2006

Totally Unnecessary[edit source]

Who said Mo-tan was too coherent? It's one of the funniest articles on Uncyclopedia, that's why it was featured! They should read the guidelines Momochii Zabuza 22:59, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, I assume the anon thought of the template as a joke. I will protect the article from any attempts to make it less consistent, don't worry. - Sikon 05:25, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Has the coherency problem been adequately corrected, or do we need incoherency in more sections? I am considering removing the tag from the article. (I don't have enough experience reading/editing Uncyclopedia to make an accurate judgment on my own.) Pentium5dot1 23:54, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Image caption typo[edit source]

The captions of the two images in the upper right read together:

"While on the surface, Firefox and Thunderbird may appear to be a couple of fancily-clad computer nerds... ...but the truth is far more magnanimous."

I believe the word "but" should be deleted. I will go ahead and do this now. Feel free to delete this comment if there are no complaints. Pentium5dot1 00:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Update: I chose to delete the word "while" instead. I somehow think "magnanimous" isn't the mot juste here, though... Pentium5dot1 00:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
    • It originally read: "While on the surface, Firefox and Thunderbird may appear to be a couple of fancily-clad computer nerds... ...the truth is far more sinister." Until someone changed it, that is. - Sikon 05:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
      • So we agree that changing just the word "magnanimous" is advisable (or at least acceptable), right? I think "sinister" sounds too negative, which is probably why "magnanimous" was used, but the problem I am concerned about is that "magnanimous" has too many positive connotations that don't apply here. I think someone was trying to say that "the truth is a far bigger deal" than what is obvious. Time to pull out the thesaurus... Pentium5dot1 02:17, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
      • Tentative fix: "On the surface, Firefox and Thunderbird may appear to be merely a couple of fancily-clad computer nerds... ...but the truth is far more sinister." (italics used only to emphasize changes) I still need to look up a better synonym for "sinister." Pentium5dot1 03:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

A couple of questions[edit source]

  1. About this sentence in the Clint Eastwood section: "... where the then-145 year old Eastwood was shooting his semi-autobiographical, super-cool, awesome, butt-kicker, Oscar winning, crossover breakout flick, incidentally named 'Firefox' ..." Isn't that "Firefox" link an unnecessary infinite loop? Is it okay for me to remove the link, or should I make it a red link to "Firefox (film)"?
  2. Also, in the line about the Wikipedia search plugin, when I saw "Google-kun," I put a link around just the "Google" since I failed to think about whether Google had a corresponding Ostan. Is this acceptable?
  • Oops, forgot to sign comment. Anyway, in regards to #1, I am about to make the red link myself. Pentium5dot1 05:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Google doesn't have an OS-tan-style character, to the best of my knowledge. - Sikon 05:53, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
      • (I deleted the comment I originally wrote here on grounds of a moved Wikipedia page and general superfluity: Pentium5dot1 06:04, 8 September 2006 (UTC) )

Turn this red link blue...?[edit source]

Concerning the following sentence: Both Firefox and the Exploder are web browsers: their duty is to patrol controlled areas of the Interweb and fight minor saboteurs and wreckers.

I considered modifying the link that reads "web browsers" to point to the category of web browsers, but then I decided against it. Does anyone have suggestions for another link target or for content that should go in the Browser page? Pentium5dot1 05:26, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Review of "See also"[edit source]

@User:Fishos (your revision): Apparently you thought my ordering of the "See also" links was not NPOV (or rather SPOV?) enough. My justification was that "Mozilla DinoJesus" corresponds to the browser that's called just "Mozilla" (its logo is a dinosaur). I won't entirely revert your changes, but I will pseudo-revert your capitalization change to be consistent with the DinoJesus article.

@anonymous: I don't see how "Mozbot" belongs here. Signed, Pentium5dot1 06:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

  • UPDATE: I'm going to alphabetize the "See also" links. Does anyone have objections?

Moezilla[edit source]

Those so-called experts over at Wikipedia have their own personification of Mozilla Firefox: Wikipedia:Moezilla. User:24.55.106.132 01:34, October 19, 2006

  • I know, but it isn't "their" term. Moezilla is what inspired me to write this article in the first place. - Sikon 04:54, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Is Iceweasel truly an enemy?[edit source]

Perhaps the "Enemies" section needs to be split into something that effectively means "sworn enemies" vs. "borderline/suspected enemies." Pentium5dot1 08:14, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Why do you care about this article so much? :) - Sikon 14:33, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm not suspected of being a single-purpose account here, am I? I feel that Firefox really deserves to be promoted, though not as radically as some of the Spread Firefox team seems to believe. I also believe in *cough cough* factual accuracy. Pentium5dot1 05:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Fx and IE ... hand in hand?[edit source]

WTF? Lol, reminds me of the ending to this article. 24.55.106.132 03:36, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

  • It just means that Microsoft has partnered with Mozilla to ensure their browser runs properly in Vista. They often test various programs on their new OSes, you know, to make sure nothing breaks. It's just this case being more prominent because Firefox is both popular and a competing product, I think. - Sikon 04:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Oscar Wilde quote[edit source]

The Oscar Wilde quote in the beginning is hands-down the best Oscar Wilde quote I have ever seen on this website. -- §. | WotM | PLS | T | C | A 01:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Cartoons[edit source]

Who drew them? They're amazing, but who spend that much time on Uncyc?--Imp88 03:27, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Firefox sucks[edit source]

Firefox really sucks. opera is the way to go, just ask baron von brunk! User:Ki4oclock 23:41, March 5, 2007

(this was removed because of vandalism) 70.82.150.164 22:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Firefox a Religion?[edit source]

It seems that many of my fellow Firefox users worship the browser. Let's include the Firefox cult in the article. SteveSims 23:49, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Who has been removing quotes?[edit source]

I'm pretty sure it's not Sikon; although he has expressed concerns about excessive quotecruft, his last edit here had nothing to do with the quotes. I'm too lazy to check diffs right now, so could somebody please review those quotes and add them back into the article as appropriate? Pentium5dot1 06:12, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

All right, maybe this well get your attention: The "Flammable?" quote is gone. Some high-ranking Uncyclopedian specifically said it's essential to the article. What to do now? Pentium5dot1 05:44, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Fixed. Pentium5dot1 22:49, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

One last question about quotes[edit source]

Cs1987, can you explain why you purged all the quotes? Sikon's edit summary here implies that he considers the "Flammable?" quote essential. How does this affect your decision? Pentium5dot1 22:37, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Mozarella firefox[edit source]

How about renaming this page to mozarella firefox? Yes, this hilarious misspelling is actually used by some people. Just check google. :) nxsty 18:25, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Um... trying my best to assume good faith rather than bad faith, I'm going to say that doing so would be vandalism and would violate HTBFANJS/BGBU. Sorry. However, if you think that idea could be developed as an independent article (not a copypaste of this one), write a draft in userspace at User:Nxsty/Mozarella Firefox, and then go to Uncyclopedia:Pee Review. Pentium5dot1 21:48, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

2008[edit source]

Getting rid of my POV fork[edit source]

I previously forked the article to User:Pentium5dot1/Storage facility/Mozilla Firefox when I was discontented about the reversion to the FA version. I feel guilty about doing this now, and I have started a "merge" proposal at User talk:Pentium5dot1/Storage facility/Mozilla Firefox. If none of my suggestions gets implemented, I am fine simply having my userspace copy deleted. P.S. Sorry for all my previous whining about quotes and other such issues. --Pentium5dot1 06:31, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

  • On hold for now. If I decide to cancel this idea, I will probably subst the aforementioned "template." --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 03:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Conspiracy Link[edit source]

The external conspiracy link under Enemies - Microsoft does not work. Would it be reasonable to replace it with a wayback machine link or remove it all together? User:86.150.103.226 20:55, January 30, 2008

Firefox 3.0[edit source]

Firefox 3.0.3 has been released, but for various (extension-related) reasons I will not be installing it right away. Please go to User:Pentium5dot1/Storage facility/FirefoxVersion and update the user agent string as instructed there (that page is a template transcluded onto this one, for reasons I attempted to discuss a couple of talk sections up). --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 03:53, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Template updated --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 17:07, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
The fork and its associated template have been deleted at my request. --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 23:45, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

2009[edit source]

Dubious image of "real Firefox"[edit source]

This image was recently added to the article. (It is SFW. It appears to show someone's pet dog sleeping.) I reverted it with an explanation on the user's talk page that it was factually incorrect and unfunny (specifically reminding him of HTBFANJS), and the user reverted my reversion. Since I believe in 1RR, and I don't see how I can reason with this user further, does anyone more authoritative have an opinion on what to do? --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 06:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

2010[edit source]

Google Chrome as Enemy[edit source]

I think in enemies section, we should also add a paragraph on Google Chrome. I suggest, since Google earlier supported firefox and since Chrome uses the same Gecko engine, so a satire on illicit relationship between mozilla & google could be made with Chrome as the bastard child whom Google later accepted. Hitesh 11:38, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

For the record, if any newbies are still reading this: The above comment is factually incorrect; Chrome uses WebKit. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 18:25, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

2011[edit source]

Page title[edit source]

Wikipedia has moved their article to "Firefox" (without the "Mozilla" part). Should we do the same? --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 18:18, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

Firefox cosplay[edit source]

Thought you might like to incorporate this image into the article somehow (mildly NSFW). --VeyneruUncyc 21:37, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

2015[edit source]

Version number[edit source]

As I am semi-retiring from Uncyclopedia, I think it would help the maintenance of the version number if I point out Mozilla's official schedule for updates (look under the "release date" and "release" columns). ----Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 20:09, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
