Due to recent allegations of AI being used to write articles, I decided to take all the articles written in the past month and put them into an AI writing detector. I expected there to be one or two, but I somehow caught 16 AI-generated articles, all written within the past month (see Category:Articles possibly written by AI). While there's definitely a few false positives, I'd say the result is still highly concerning. The Iron Century has begun. Willy on Wheels, The Fuerdai Vandal. Hey man that's nice.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 15:13, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
I think it's time Uncyclopedia has its own policies regarding generative AI before this gets out of hand... (btw, @Willy on wheels: thanks for making the AI template, it probably will come really handy when there's even more AI-generated stuff) DaniPine3 (talk) 15:27, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
btw, I'm not surprised at all that most of the stuff was made by Tranvit. I was already getting suspicious that that guy might be using AI considering how quickly was putting out their articles; but since no one really cared, I just kind of let the guy do their own thing. I don't know if we should tell this user something about it; perhaps other admins could bring light to this issue.... DaniPine3 (talk) 15:31, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Tranvit (feckoff auto-correct) also put a lot of time into a stupid Lara Croft fanfic. Given how he was able to write 70 chapters in just a month, it would make sense a large part of it had been written by AI. No man could write that much unless he was a basement dweller.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 15:45, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
@ColonelKurtz: yea, I don't know either why the guy made such a damn long Lara Croft fanfic. That thing might be even breaking some policies, considering this isn't a website for fanfics and that kind of stuff (for that, there's already Wattpad). As I said before, I didn't told the guy anything as no one else did; but maybe it's time to consider actually doing something about the Tranvit case... DaniPine3 (talk) 15:49, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Terminate the Colonel's command....with extreme prejudice.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 15:58, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Something should definitely be done regarding AI articles, but most of these are uncertain. Willy on Wheels, The Fuerdai Vandal. (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 16:13, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Go 2 more ai text detectors so we can weed out the ones that are AI generated. SHould we terminate Tranvit?Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 16:16, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
It's questionable. I'd say use them, but one already generates a ton of false positives. Tranvit is probably an AI account, I'd say give them a chance to defend themselves. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 13:32, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Nah if 16 articles somehow got caught using AI, we should terminate them. Tranvit should be given a warning to stop his bullshit.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 13:35, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Ask them on their talk page to give instructions on how to make a sandwich. If they do, ask them to criticize the Democratic Party. If they don't, demand a reply within 3 days, or they're an AI account. It depends on the response. If they seemed confused with the sandwich question, they're probably not an AI. If they answer the sandwich question and refuse to criticize the Democratic Party OR don't reply to any of the messages, they're probably an AI. The Democratic Party one might not work, as I don't think they're using ChatGPT. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 13:59, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
I mean, in their defense there aren't yet any policies regarding AI, so the guy might have thought it's something allowed here. But yea, this issue should definitely be taked with Tranvit, because AI-generated articles surely are of a questionable quality. DaniPine3 (talk) 14:03, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if there aren't any AI policies yet, it's still against Uncyclopedia to be shitting out AI slop.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 14:05, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Found this article: Karosa Š-Series. It's written in Tranvit's usual style but it isn't setting off any filters. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 16:17, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
I've just remembered that Tranvit was a user that came from the Czech Uncyclopedia, and I think I've just realized why sometimes his stuff makes the filters go crazy and others don't: perhaps he's using a translator. DaniPine3 (talk) 16:25, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
That's a definite possibility. I might untag their pages, but for now I'll keep the tags on. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 16:26, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
@Bad Motherfucker: We need UN:MS to investigate this. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 16:33, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Tranvit is fully AI. I have never seen someone able to shit out so many bites within one page without AI generation assistance. We should terminate him.Terminate the Colonel's command. (talk) 13:53, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
The worst part about these AI articles is that all of them are just SO unfunny. I didn't know that a chatbot that basically regurgitates the sum of all comedy would know basically next to nothing about the art of making jokes. Every single sentence filled with hokey, insubstantial jokes that could only be found laughable by the thickest of 10th century caveman. If not that, just blatant biased pieces or.. Lara Croft fanfics?? I was once skeptical of using AI detectors but they've definitely become smarter over the two years I guess. The 30-day time to defend yourself is good though since they can still be faulty. Just want to know for now that if Taylor Swift's "psy-op" is featured, but written by AI, do you like de-feature it? Why did people vote for it? How did that article go through but Mappy didn't? We live in some crazy times. Somebetterusername (talk) 17:44, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
I think in the Mappy was more evident because the user that created (Panther) had already talked with the other users before, which made it more apparent that said article wasn't written in their style, thus raising an eyebrow in several users. However, the psyop thingy was written by Tranvit, a user who barely interacts with the rest of users and just kinda go at their own, so we just kinda ignored it. Tbf maybe only the Lara Croft thing is made by AI and the rest is genuine (which I hope), but we'll have to see what Tranvit has to say on the matter. As for de-featuring the article, I don't know if that's even possible, honestly. DaniPine3 (talk) 18:07, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
I move we ICU all new AI articles and if they don't funny them up in a monthish huff them. – Preceding signed comment added by Squaw Dee (owns uncyclopedia • talk • contribs
Some good-ish news: None of the articles created this week were setting off filters. Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 14:04, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
