Hey[edit source]
I like the way you're willing to contribute to Uncyclopedia which is very great, but before you get into the process of editing why don't you look over HTBFANJS and our Beginner's Guide seriously, it'll help you out, a lot. See you soon! -- UserTalkContributions 21:26, April 2, 2012 (UTC)
Edit[edit source]
Wasn't aware of these, thanks
Counting to potato[edit source]
Is a good one my friend, you write very well! It's funny as hell, good concept. I always had a hard time counting to potato when I was young... As I added on the page, it would be awesome if you added some pics to your article. Also, I'm pretty sure Tasmania doesn't know how to count to potato, hence his message of jealousy above. If you need help uploading a pic or with anything, just leave a message on my talk page by clicking the snowflake. Welcome to Uncy and have fun! Mattsnow 04:12, April 3, 2012 (UTC)
- PS: Maybe the pic on the right could be used? :D Mattsnow 05:12, April 3, 2012 (UTC)
- I can help you with that, no problem, you only have to go in the edit section right here (as if you were gonna edit) and copy and paste the code on the article. To see what it is going to look like without saving, press the "preview" button to the right of the "Save" button. Also, you replied on the wrong page lol. Make sure you get on my talk page by clicking the snowflake, if you click "Mattsnow", you'll be on my userpage. You can also reply right here if you want, I'm watching your page like a tiger watches the defenseless deer. Ring my bell if you have problems, I really think the Counting to potato article has potential, it could maybe have a crack at getting on the front page with some work. (adding pics and making it a bit longer, basically) Mattsnow 07:22, April 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Glad to hear it! Had you not continued, I would have done it :D Have fun and remember to sign your messages on talkpages with ~~~~ (Hold 'Alt Gr' and press the ; key). Tell me when you're through, I'm sure it'll be good from what's already there and if you need help, I'll be glad to! Mattsnow 19:17, April 4, 2012 (UTC)
- I've got at least 4 almost finished articles, plus, well I work. Finding pics on google and adding them is the funniest and most effortless thing to do here once you got the hang of it. Here's a copypasta of our very basic instruction leaflet about uploading a pic:

“ | How to Upload Images
As for how to upload images, log in, click upload file from the left hand menu, and fill out the form that pops up. It's easy! Just be aware that if you upload a lot of stupid images that other people don't find funny, it could get you banned. Be aware that if a file you upload is for your userpage, let people know that so it will be less likely to get erased (there's a comment box to explain why you're uploading the image in the form). Now that you've uploaded your image, you have to put it in your page, right? It's easy, just type the following code into your page [[Image:Filename.jpg|thumb|caption]]. You can also format it in different ways to get it in different sizes and different areas of the page. Look around at other articles' code to figure out how to do what you want. |

- It seems PuppyOnTheRadio added a lot to the article! Mattsnow 02:23, April 5, 2012 (UTC)
- I hope you don't mind, but this is a brilliant article, but I'm going to make a few changes throughout. The major problem is that potatoes weren't common is Europe until the 18th century, and while there isn't a huge focus on fact here, I think I can incorporate a fair bit of fact in here relating to 18th - 21st century mathematics in here. Should be able to get this featurable status by the end of the day. Nominally Humane! 05:21 05 Apr

I liked it so much I bought the company[edit source]
I'm sorry, but I got impatient. I've nominated the edited version for feature here. Just so you know, I very rarely get this excited by anyone's first article. It was great. Hopefully now it's brilliant. We'll se what happens. Nominally Humane! 06:34 05 Apr
Response[edit source]
Of course, it's a communal website, and I'm happy to have opened the concept up. Getting featured seems like a stretch, but I appreciate the feedback. And I agree, some factual relevancy is actually important in this article, as I'm going for a serious tone (the joke obviously coming from the ridiculous premise).
- If you don't want anybody to interfere, just leave the construction template on or create it in your userspace like this: User:Mockingbird ST/Title of the article here. A bit like User:Mattsnow/Resident Evil. You can leave it there for months if you want and work on it at your leisure.
- We jumped on your since we were not sure if you were gonna edit it again since you are new (and because it was hilarious)! I think you deserve all the credit. I hope you write another one sooner or later. Mattsnow 02:40, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
- I'd like to think I deserve some of it too. Nominally Humane! 02:42 06 Apr
- None. lol Ok,ok, half of it. 1/3 of it. 1/potato of it. Mattsnow 02:44, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
- @MBird - sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) on talk pages and stuff as well. Ask Matt if you want help setting up a custom sig. Nominally Humane! 02:47 06 Apr
- I hope you're kidding, I don't even know how mine got done! Mattsnow 03:18, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

My concept, but I'd give a great amount of credit to Puppy, he really cleaned it up. 24.108.206.31 04:47, April 6, 2012 (UTC)Mockingbird ST
- No problem at all, bro, don't even ask. I sometimes edit while being very tired, or 2 or 3 articles at once, so it's quite possible I fucked up. Go ahead, man, no need to ask. Mattsnow 20:12, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
- A guy came to me and asked "Who is this great new user?" on my talk page, you may want to go and see the answer lol Mattsnow 21:21, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
Lol that may be selling me a little high, but I appreciate the thought ;)
- Nice work by the way. And I have no idea how to upload a file. Everybody says "Fill out the form", but if I have a file saved on my computer what is supposed to go on the form? A pic on one hand, a form on the other, but how to you meld them? I dunno. Can you do screen saves? Nobody else on line to ask although I passed a request to MrN too. And good to meet you! Aleister 00:46 7-4-'12
- The paper work is just scary: upload that shit, then the TSA scratches your genitals. Then you can upload anything, isn't that amazing?!?!?! They call it the Geriatric Act. It protects freedom of speech AND your genitals! Mattsnow 00:55, April 7, 2012 (UTC)
- My genitals are well protected. I've had them in a jar in a safe for a couple of years now. No, seriously, I never learned how to do that, or to screen save something to a File. I've mainly used computers for writing things, and never needed pics until I wandered by here. Matt, can you do a screen save onto a file for me of the main page and the UnNews Current Events Page? I've asked the people I thought were here but nobody seems to be wandering the halls but me and now you. Have you seen the attic! It's really cool (hey, you want to collab on a page called "Uncyclopedia's attic". That could be scary (have you ever read my Garage sale page?). Al 1:02 7-4-'12
- To help you out along the way, Uncyclopedia:How to upload a file. Nominally Humane! 01:44 07 Apr
- There is nothing there that helps. If I save a pic onto my computer, the mystery is how to list that pic on the form in such a way that it jumps from my computer onto a particular site or onto that form. That crucial step is never explained on pages like that, the pages and their anom authors just assume everyone knows those steps. Ah, I see you did a screen shot. Can you (I've asked everyone, nobody has answered, and they are all laughing at me, like a donkey with no pants on or something!) possibly do a screen shot save onto a File of the top of the main page and the top of the Current Events page (UnNews). They are all the Supreme Court article, which hopefully sticks it to the U.S. Supreme Court that they feel it from now until the first Monday in October. Thanks, Al 1:51 7-4-'12
- Easy done. Nominally Humane! 01:56 07 Apr
- Thanks. Nut how is it easy??? Al 1:59
- I'm just in the process of cleaning up the pictures now. For some reason the UnNews one makes me wish I had a car so I could have it washed. @Mbird - sorry for taking over your talk page. My talk page is boring. Nominally Humane! 02:11 07 Apr

Photos[edit source]
First save the picture from wherever you found it to your documents (should be File-->Save As). Go to "upload file" (left side of the Uncyclopedia page) and select the file you saved, then fill out the data. This puts it into Uncyclopedia's database. To insert the picture, copy/paste this into the edit box for your article:
[Image:"The name you saved it under".jpg|thumb|"The caption you want"]
Also note: There should be an extra set of [] brackets around that, I can't do it as a demonstration without Uncyclopedia thinking I'm trying to upload something :P
The basics of editing[edit source]
You know how to write. If you want more help with that HTBFANJS is the place to go. The next thingy is coding. So as for basic tips in formatting:
This is the thing above the edit window. Each button adds code to whatever you write. And it works kinda like this (from left to right)
What it is | What it looks like | What it does |
Bold | '''Bold''' | Bold |
Italic | ''Italic'' | Italic |
Internal link | [[Main page]] | Main page |
Hyperlink | [http://some.link link text] | link text |
Headline | == Headline text == | Headline text
|
Add file/image | [[File:face.png|10px|thumb]]
Add sound/media | [[Media:Runaway.mp3]] | Media:Runaway.mp3 |
Add math formula | <math>ax^2 + bx + c</math>
Add wiki markup as plain text | <nowiki>[[Example link]]</nowiki> | [[Example link]] |
Add a (custom) signature | --~~~~ | User:PuppyOnTheRadio (talk) 06:08, April 7, 2012 (UTC) |
Horizontal line | ---- |
|
Some of these have more complicated syntax than others. It helps at first to find an example of what you are wanting to achieve, and either copy what someone has done, or ask for help. There is also:
- Help:HowTo - a slightly longer version of the above, and why the "editing help" link takes you to
- Wikipedia:Tutorial - same sort of thing at Wikipedia, but more detailed
- Wikipedia:Picture tutorial - More stuff on images at WP
- UN:HAX - More complicated formatting advice
- Microsoft knowledge base - An unhelpful place for formatting advice
- User talk:PuppyOnTheRadio - If I'm not around a lot of other editors keep an eye on my talk page.
Hope that all makes sense and helps. Regular users here will often be able to give you a hand with either coding or writing advice. Nominally Humane! 06:08 07 Apr
Well Would You Look at That![edit source]
My first full article has just been featured on the front page. Huge thanks to those involved, notably Mattsnow and PuppyOnTheRadio.
- No problem! You could also read the articles on VFH and vote, that would be appreciated! Your article is going like a rocket, it'll be on the frontpage tomorrow. What an awesome entry here! I hate to sound like a retard, but please sign your posts with 4 tildes and congratulations, you are awesome! May I whore the article I just finished to try to prove I am not that bad too? Earth's Children. Mattsnow 01:17, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Brace Yourself, Exams are Coming[edit source]
For the next several weeks, I am effectively barricading myself from the internet. See you on the other side! OK: no problem
- Hope exams are going smoothly. See you around soon! Nominally Humane! 01:27 22 Apr
