UnTunes:Are we human or are we cancer?[edit source]
Because this is an UnTune, I would like it if the reviewer could focus somewhat on audio quality and such-- thanks. • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} 20:35, Jul 22
- God, I fucking hate that Killers song. Just saying. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 21:32, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
See I don't know if I can review this one, as all I can really say is that the audio quality is fine and that I have heard far worse, some of the lyrics are questionable as is the rhythm in places, but generally not a bad effort. That's where my comments end, I don't really think I can fill a table with it. If anyone else fancies doing so go ahead. --ChiefjusticeDS 09:57, 24 July 2009 (UTC) User:POTR/Template:PEEing
- PC issues - I'll finish this tomorrow. Pup
Humour: | 5 | Okay, I've had to make my own grading scale here. At 9 I've put "Yoda" by Weird Al and "I love Dogs" by Doug Anthony Allstars. Both are very funny songs and I find myself singing them at odd moments. At 7 I've put pretty fly for a white guy. There's a couple of humorous lines but not much in the way of laughs. At 5 I've got FHMs cover of "Back for good" Good cover done humorously but no laughs as such.
This sits at about a 5. It brings a smile, but no laughs, and it doesn't build much beyond the title. There's not much "funny" in the song. There's a slight lift of the mouth at the line about checking down there, but beyond that it's a song about a guy worried he has cancer. |
Concept: | 5 | Again, it's a song about a guy who has cancer. One of the things that lifts a humorous song to a higher level is having the lyrics being completely over the top. The lyrics here are fairly straight forward with no OTT humour.
Again, I'd be looking at putting this well over the top. |
Prose and formatting: | 7 | Okay, ignoring what this area is meant to be for, I'm using this for the polish of the song. I heard a little background noise in there that I'm sure isn't meant to be, and I get this horrible hum out of it, so it's not a professional recording. Given how tight we get on image manipulation, I'm being a little tight on the audio manipulation as well.
The singing voice leaves a little to be desired. I'd say that the singer is either tone deaf or simply has not spent a lot of time practising. Given that it's a song that relies on a good singing range, it might be beyond your grasp. |
Images: | 5 | Image 1. Horrible photo. I can understand that you've taken the cover of the single and distorted it, and the blotchy effect is part of the single cover, but here it looks ugly and out of place.
Image 2. Ugly photo, but again, how does it relate to the song? The caption should be tieing this in somehow - if nothing else telling me this is the singer Image 3. Has no relationship at all. It adds nothing to the page. |
Miscellaneous: | 4 | It leaves a huge amount to be desired. I'm also of a mind that it's not something that can be easily reviewed in a review like this. ChiefJusticeDS stated that he'd have trouble filling a table, and to be honest so do I. This doesn't excite me enough to keep writing. |
Final Score: | 26 | There's not enough in the lyrics to bear the rest of this up. Even if you had the greatest band playing with the greatest singer - hell, even if you got the killers to do this, you're looking at alternate lyrics for an existing song that aren't funny. Go back to that and start again from there. |
