November began with the surprise appointment of a new Taliban leader in Pakistan, a 28-year-old It worker from Iowa.

By the end of the month, many sympathised with beleaguered rock band Lostprophets, who found themselves obliged to advertise for a new lead singer free of the horrific sexual interests of Ian Watkins.
