It's a few pixels too high up, needs to be shifted down a bit. --User:Nintendorulez 14:02, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey, what extension does this use? n00b

It's not an extension, it's a javascript hack. See somewhere in mediawiki:common.js Spang talk 03:03, 22 Jun 2007
Thanks n00b

So, this can work on another wiki? n00b

Yeah, copy the section of code marked "title rewrite" from mediawiki:common.js, put it in your own common.js, and copy the code from this template, and it should work. Make sure you link back here in it though! Spang talk 07:03, 24 Jun 2007
Hmm...That doesn't seem to work. :-( - 04:11 4 AprilSir FSt. (QotF BFF NotM) YTTETalk!Read!Sign!Whore!CMC!Pee!

What would it takes...[edit source]

To make this thing work elsewhere ? I've copied both the template and the js code on 3 wikia wikis ([1], [2] and [3] with proper attribution in all cases) and it doesn't work at all. Maybe it's missing something. But what ? TulipVorlax 01:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I've changed the js code slightly so it should work on other wikia without having to copy extra functions. Re-copy the JS part to each wiki and it should work fine. Spang talk 02:04, 11 Nov 2007

Using outside Wikia[edit source]

Well you apparently have it working for yourself and the rest of Wikia, but what about completely separate MediaWiki installations? You've made a very handy thing here, and it would be great if everyone could use it! --Robomilk (talk) 80.2.179.82 01:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Works on my own personal wiki just fine. What's the problem?  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 01:50 Jan 03, 2008
To sum it up in the simplest way possible, it doesn't work. The template bit will show up in the source code, however it won't replace the title - thus I'm guessing it's the Javascript that's to do with it. --Robomilk (talk) 80.2.179.82 03:48, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, looking at the source code I'm guessing it's because it requires the Yahoo Interface Library, which is available on this wiki but does not come on new MediaWiki installations by default. --Robomilk (talk) 80.2.179.82 10:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
^Yuppie, you're right. It doesn't work on other wikis that don't have that Yahoo thingy...which is very saddening. - 04:21 4 AprilSir FSt. (QotF BFF NotM) YTTETalk!Read!Sign!Whore!CMC!Pee!

Simplification[edit source]

OK, I figured out a way to get a title changed that is much less complex that all that hacking stuff:

All it does is put text over the top of the title, making it look like a changed title.

Could it be considered?

<span style="position:absolute;top:12px;left:13px;z-index:1;"><font size=5><font style="background:white">New Title</font></font></span>

That was how it used to be done, but it had some problems with some other things using the title space and stuff. You can still use that method though by doing {{Title|new title|usecss=yes}}. Spang talk 10:21, 11 Jan 2008
You can do it. Based on Spang's answer, you can use the |usecss= parameter. Userpage (172.73.149.44) 17:18, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
