You got Caged!
Whoops! Maybe you were looking for John Cage?

Jonathan Carlton (stage name: Johnny Cage) is better than you. He is not only a famous actor that has starred in Oscar-winning films like Ninja Mime, but is also a martial artist whose idol is none other than Jean-Claude Van Damme. He has sought to revitalize his career and reputation as an actor by pissing off film critics and the like. However, in the new timeline, he's still a struggling actor as he had divorced his wife, Cristina. Making matters worse is that he can't even pay his electricity, water and other bills.

So now he has to fight alongside Kung Lao and Raiden to fight in the Boretal Kombat tournament in an attempt to kill Shang Tsung, in which the first realm to do so wins the equivalent of a billion in whatever their currency is. Earthrealm won that tournament, so they do get that prize divided in every single country around the world.

Powers and abilities[edit | edit source]

Cage is descended from a Mediterranean war cult which allows him to become unstoppable. He even uses that power to withstand a death blow from Shinnok. Somehow, Liu Kang managed to remove that power because it didn't suit Cage enough and instead gave it to Janet, so now Cage has a hype meter which makes his attacks more powerful. Not sure if that can still withstand death blows from Shinnok, though. Otherwise, he is your average martial arts film star with moves copied from other popular martial arts films.

Fatalities[edit | edit source]

In the first Boretal Kombat game, he would decapitate the opponent's head with an uppercut. There is a glitch where he decapitates more than 1 head, so that also became a fatality. Janet Cage would then get that fatality and also is one of her brutalities. He would also rip torsos as well. Later games would have the fatalities be more related to his actor career. Boretal Kombat 2011 makes Cage pull out a trophy after he cut his opponent's head in half and plants it between the halves. Boretal Kombat X has him do some kind of Shining-esque fatality in his first one, and Boretal Kombat 11 has him become a ventriloquist using his opponent's head as a puppet while tomatoes are being thrown, which one of the tomatoes ends up slicing the opponent's head off. There is also a second fatality for him if you play him for long enough in the same game, which is similar to the fatality from the first game, except it's done in multiple takes.

Boretal Kombat 1 has shorter fatalities and has him smash his opponent's head into a plaque while doing an Instagram live stream and even kills the opponent with his car's doors as well.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

All you need to know is that Cage has a daughter named Cassie and his ex-wife is Cristina. In addition, he has hacked the official Boretal Kombat socials simply by finding the password to their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook by saying to "smash that like button".

Janet Cage[edit | edit source]

Janet Cage is the female version of Johnny Cage, except she has Mediterranean war cult powers and her fists can turn green. She is as cocky as her male counterpart, and still does decapitate her opponents when they lose.

Theme song[edit | edit source]

In Boretal Kombat 1 (2023, not the original 1992 version), if you play a match with both you and the other player playing as Johnny Cage in any of the online modes or if you play the game with a CPU with the same method, chose Janet Cage as the Kameo fighter and you chose Cage's Mansion as the stage, this song will play in the background. The song will skip to the end if the winning player does not do a Fatality. Part of the song will play during Cage's fatal blow, even if you didn't choose Janet Cage as the Kameo, regardless of other modes you play in and regardless of other stages you choose.
