G.I. Jane 2 is an upcoming American film and a sequel to GI Jane. It stars Jada Pinkett Smith in the titular role.

Casting[edit | edit source]

Demi Moore was originally asked to reprise her role, but had to turn it down due to personal reasons. Bruce Willis later announced he was retiring due to aphasia. Moore still serves as an in-name-only producer.

Gilbert Gottfried plays the tough-as-nails drill sergeant in what will become one of his final roles. Gottfried reportedly told Scott, "I want an Oscar before I croak, though I might settle for a Golden Globe. Mo'nique starred in UPN sitcoms before playing the ruthless bitch mother in Precious. And the Yellow M&M scared the piss of of us in Whiplash."

The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The plot is currently unknown, but the original was about the first woman to undergo special operations training a la the Navy SEALs.

It's thought that in the sequel Jane has to spy on Al Queda, so she shaves her head to pose as a dude, to gain intel.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Audience anticipation is mixed. According to a recent Variety poll, 60% of audiences are eager to see the film, while an MSN poll has it at 40%.

Comedian Chris Rock says he "can't wait to see it."

Will Smith was initially amused by the casting of his wife, until he saw the look on her face. Now he is demanding that when the studio rolls out their marketing campaign, presumably in the fall of 2022, they "keep my wife's name out your fucking mouth!"
