Forum:Proposal for the timeline
Since my dream has been crushed and the timeline is going to be kept, I came up with an idea as to what we can do with it. Basically, I think we should, as a community, rewrite it. Here was my idea, step by step:
Step 1: Semi-protect each article. Obviously, one of the reasons the timeline is the worthless piece of crap this it is today is that IPs and new users who show up for one day and never come back have had full access to the timelines. Thus, they insert their Chuck Norris and LOLFAG jokes unnoticed. I think the first major step to fixing this series of articles is to keep those kinds of idiots from editing, thereby stopping the flood ED and 4chan jokes and allowing us to focus on weeding out the existing ones. This step, of course, is simple: a member of the Cabal merely has to protect the article.
Step 2: Rewrite it as a unified group. Something like the timeline is too big for groups like Der Unwehr and Imperial Colonization to handle by themselves. So, I propose we put something official up, similair to the forums. However, keep it off the main page; the less idiots we attract the better. We could make some sort of discussion page for weeding out the memes and putting in the good jokes, such as Uncyclopedia:Timeline Cleanup. The best thing about this is that there will be less infighting and arguing over what to put in the articles, and more focus on trimming down the listcruft, which is something most users agree on.
Step 3: Preserve the rewrite. This is where the usergroups come in. Members of Der Unwehr, Imperial Colonization, or both could split the responsibilty between themselves of keeping an eye on the page. If a newly autoconfirmed user makes a joke about kitten hiffing, Chuck Norris, etc. then it will be up to the usergroups to revert it.
So, what do you guys think? I think this is a good idea of what we can do with the timeline, as well as making it presentable and giving people a good idea of what we find funny.
