A categories of turtles.

Turtles are awesome and nobody can beat that. There are 3 distinct types of turtles. The Terrapin lives in the water mainly freshwater or brackish. Turtles as in Sea turtles mainly live in saltwater, and Tortoises live on land. Tortoises have elephantine feet made for digging so they can hibernate in the winter. Gopher tortoises which live in Alabama are endangered. Gopher tortoises in hibernation share their home with indigo snakes which are rare in the whole southeast. Sea turtles are rare also because a big gulf oil spill happened and hurt the sea turtles. Terrapins live in fresh or brackish water. The state reptile for Alabama is a Red bellied turtles
