Welcome![edit source]
Hello Shanoman, and welcome to Uncyclopedia!
So what's this message all about? Well, I know it looks like this was automatically generated, and well, OK... you caught me. I'm lazy, so I paste it in. But... if you have been sent this it does mean that I have noticed your contributions, and think that you're going to do some good stuff here. So who am I? Oh, just someone putting his nose in where it is probably not wanted...
Anyway, if you have not already, I SERIOUSLY recommend that you read the link below:
Probably the second most important link for a newcomer is:
- How to be funny and not just stupid - Basically it's a guide to writing humours articles which has been edited and improved over time by the users of this site. It's not an insult, and it's well worth a look.
If you want to find out how we decide which articles to feature on the front page, check out the VFH page. Basically, we vote for them. Anyone can vote. Especially you! You might find VFH a useful page to look over as it gives an idea of the kind of standard which you need to reach if you want to get an article featured.
If you want to find out more about Uncyclopedia, try these:
- About Uncyclopedia and The five pliers of Uncyclopedia
- How to get started editing
- Everything you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask
- Help Pages - if you need help with a specific issue
- Our Vanity Policies - stuff we don't care about
- The FAQs - a few commonly asked questions answered for your convenience
If you need help, feel free to ask me on my talk page (if this message has appeared in the last few minutes, I'm propablly still on-line). A list of administrators can be found here. If you think you are going to be around a while, and would like extra help on a more personal level, you just might be able to convince someone at the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program to take you under their wing. Browse our list of available mentors, and leave one of them a message on their talk page.
Remember to use the "Preview" button before you save your edits to make sure that the page looks as you want it. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button () above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.
Again, welcome! -- MrN 22:06, Mar 28
Dude[edit source]
Please don't add categories which don't exist. Do some research and find which ones do before you use that feature... Cheers. MrN 03:23, Mar 30
P.S.[edit source]
If you had asked, one of us could have restored the article to your userspace. Just sayin', askin' questions is a good way of finding things out. Better than screaming accusations on talkpages, leastaways. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 05:34 Apr 08, 2009
If you asked...[edit source]
... an admin (not me) he could have restored the article to your userspace. Then it would have been where they wanted it but you wouldn't have had to recreate it from memory. If the article was any longer or you think there might be stuff you missed, it might be worth asking them. --monika 05:36, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry (sort of)[edit source]
I am very new here, and I guess the prompt deletions just reminded me too much of the worst aspects of Wikipedia. I'm a "rabid" (hard-core; die-hard) inclusionist, and a firm believer in getting an idea out there as soon as possible, giving other people the chance to improve on it (really, others editing it, especially when they are only adding to it, doesn't bother me in the least, it's when they just delete it that annoys me). I am starting to believe that Uncyclopedia is a much smaller entity than Wikipedia, with a far tighter and more elitist cabal of Administrators (or at least with much better & faster bots, anyway), and for whatever reason, much higher standards that do get enforced (and swiftly!). I guess because it is a spoof, I just didn't take it seriously. Now I do, and I think maybe it is not the place for me. Shanoman 05:49, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm... Maybe Illogicopedia is the place for you then? (I'd also suggest ED but I don't want to be insulting.) --monika 05:53, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- On second thought, let's not go to Illogicopedia. Tis a silly place... --monika 05:53, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oh oh oh. You can do what my brother does and create a troll account on Conservapedia. They're okay with short articles as long as you write them from a mock-serious neocon viewpoint. --monika 05:55, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, but they already have an Albert Schweitzer article... --monika 05:56, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe I'll do that. I think I could fake a neocon viewpoint fairly well. Thanks for the suggestion. No hard feelings then? --Shanoman 05:59, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, I do consider myself to be exceedingly "out there" (Left, Liberal, Progressive, et. al.), but alas, I'm also, I'm afraid, exceedingly dense and often seemingly naive. It's just that I take nearly everything so literally at first, and then only much later, after I've processed it, do I realize and fully appreciate irony or sarcasm. Guess I'm just a freak, thanks largely to that wacky right-wing Neo-Tech objectivist bullshit I used to believe in. Thanks for putting up with me as long as you have. --Shanoman 06:05, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, it's okay. No one gets my jokes anyway. --monika 06:07, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

- The explanation for all this is, on Uncyc, people pretty much write articles themselves. While, theoretically, anyone can edit any page, for the most part, there's one main author for each page (with the exception of major topics, articles about which are usually a huge mess). So when you create a stub, that's really all it's going to be, is a stub. People aren't going to find it, edit it, and expand it. Each article is a work unto itself (although collaborations do exist). – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 06:09 Apr 08, 2009
I'm kind of pissed[edit source]
Over half of my user page has disappeared! I had elaborated in depth my proposed articles detailing Albert Schweitzer, Frank R. Wallace (the Neo-Tech guy; a Randian splinter-group), something I called "Suntanna Satana", and probably more. I should have known something was amiss when I tried adding more stuff (BTW, it concerned mocking tax protests & tea parties) to my page, only to have it quickly reverted by someone else who thought I was a vandal! Sheesh, just because I forgot my password and was using a different computer? How likely is it that ANYONE ELSE would know these things----or even care??? I don't know who to go to, but I'd really like my page back. Also: GIMME BACK MY HIPPIE!
- Did you check the history of your userpage? The version you want is probably in there somewhere. —Pelozurian (talk) 23:00, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, and I didn't see it. Do you suppose it is possible it has been rolled-back? Shanoman 23:01, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
