At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Mattang/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.
If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply put {{adoptme}} on your Userpage to join. Again, welcome! -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 09:08, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Hallo[edit source]
Please stop template/quote spamming, you're not adding anything to the article by doing so. Might I suggest that you read the links left above. Thanks. ~ 08:07, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Sir.[edit source]
Well, while I appreciate your feelings about me, I feel that your edits on Barack Obama are bad. I insinuated this on the last revert I did. I would understand what you are saying, and back off if I felt that I was the only one who thought your edits were stupid and not funny, and saw your user page and thought you just have an issue with Barack. However, as there have been 3 of us to revert your edits so far, I would say that I am one of many who don't find what you have written as funny. I would suggest backing off the page for a while, and writing for a different article, as you obviously can't get past what you have written for Obama so far. Otherwise, I don't see how your edits will stay. As others have already shown, I will not be the only one who reverts what you have done, so coming to me and calling me an asshole will get you no where. Next time, perhaps try to be civil. I will try my best to have you understand my point of view. If you have any more problems, I'm sure you know how to contact me. The Woodburninator (woodtalk) (woodstalk) 15:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I do thank you for calming down a bit. If anyone blocked you, it surely wasn't me. I am not an admin, and don't have those super powers. As to the edits, they were more stupid than funny. I truly, truly don't mean that as an insult. Some things are stupid and funny, but I, among others didn't think it was funny. Also, it didn't fit the article. One thing I at least hate is when random sections of the article don't match the good majority of the article. It detracts from the article. I don't know who told you not to edit anything else, but in that case, fuck 'em. Some people won't agree with your edits, but there isn't anyone here who can tell you not to edit. If you are a real ass (which I don't think you are) then you can get a long block, but that doesn't happen too long. If you got a short block, don't worry too much about it. A lot of people get short blocks. Some of the most popular writers have gotten many, many blocks. I would say for you to try editing a less popular article, and go from there. Editing popular and sensitive articles is sometimes a little touchy as you have seen. For my first ever edit, I made my own article. That way no one will try to revert what you do. It can however be Quickly deleted, so the thing to do is create it in your userspace. Its done easily enough. Just go to your userpage, at the end put a /, and add whatever article you thinking about creating. Like, if you wanted to create a page on George Clooney, the page could be User:Mattang/GeorgeClooney. No one would touch it in your userspace (Go To User:The Woodburninator/Mosquitos for a good example of a bad article that is in my userspace). Later on you could move it to the mainspace when you are done editing, and think you have a good article.
- The thing that you did that upset some people was continually undoing people's reverts. When it is just one undo, that's usually fine. But when many people are undoing your edits, there is usually a reason, and the best course of action is to back off the article and contact someone on their talk page. It makes things a bit easier, and less messy. But I agree that there is some bad crap on this site. Most of that will eventually get deleted. Our Votes For Deletion page takes care of that. When someone finds a bad page, they vote it to be destroyed. The edits you did didn't offend anyone, and I'm sorry if my earlier comments made you think that. I was afraid that what you had done was in bad faith, which was a mistake on my part. I would suggest that you read the How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid page. That is not an insult. I read it 2 times before I did anything on this site. It really is a big help. With that I am off. If you have any questions, or comments, let me know. I'll try and help you out.
- Oh, and P.S. I'm no liberal. I'm more moderate. I guess you could say I am the all-important swing voter. The Woodburninator (woodtalk) (woodstalk) 01:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
