An MCA Company, taking credit for somebody else's work

What. The. Fuck!!??!! -- I was eagerly awaiting the Blu-ray release of 1981's Halloween II, only to find out that Universal fucked up royally and is suffering universal backlash. It's not that there are white "specks" (NOT film grain) that pop up in certain scenes, nor is it the lack of lossless audio. It's not even the artwork. It's something much, much worse.

♩One of these things is not like the other.♩

Can you tell which of these two title cards is incorrect? If you answered the first one, you are correct. If you answered the second one, then you work for Universal. Universal had the nerve to remove the credit of longtime Halloween producer, the late Moustapha Akkad (pronounced like Christopher, and not like Mufasa) and replaced it with their own name. This is a slap in the face to the man who did more for Halloween than anybody else in the horror franchise's 33-year history. He put up the money in 1978 when nobody else would. Without Moustapha Akkad, there would be no Halloween; it would just be an idea that Irwin Yablans and John Carpenter scribbled onto a piece of paper, hoping somebody would gamble on it.

Is Universal still an MCA company? Does MCA even still exist? Didn't Universal merge with NBC? Didn't Comcast buy NBC-Universal from GE? What self respecting company has the balls to remove the name of the person who did the real work, and take credit for that person's blood, sweat, and tears? It's not right. There's definitely something illegal about what they did. It's called plagiarism. Just because Warner publishes the Harry Potter books doesn't mean they can take off J.K. Rowling's name and replace it with their own.

The rumor going 'round is that Akkad's name was removed to due the funding of 1981's Lion in the Desert by Muammar Gaddafi. Who gives a shit? You don't take Michael Jackson's name off Thriller just because he was a child molester. You don't take O.J.'s name off the Naked Gun movies just because he's a murderer. You don't take Mel Gibson's name off The Passion of the Christ just because he's an anti-Semite.

Universal, give me a break. Reinstate Moustapha Akkad's credit. Give us lossless DTS-HD Master Audio, either 5.1 or 2.0, for both Halloween II and Terror in the Aisles (a 1984 clip show/documentary movie included on the disc, hosted by Donald Pleasence and Nancy Allen). And please replace the cover art with the original movie poster. Thank you. Until then, all Halloween fans boycott this release.
