Talk:Invisible cow
Discussion from Pee Review[edit source]
So, uh, yeah, I tried. I dunno, it's funnier if you've been to Mauna Kea Observatories in Hawaii. In any case, tell me what I can do to improve it (besides reformatting that stupid image at the top, I can't quite seem to fix it). Also, find more images for it, please. --The Acceptable Cainad (Fnord) 03:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- I like it. It's a very strong concept. The non-sequiter type explanation is good. You should explore more angles on it. Off the top of my head, I'd like to see something about road accidents involving invisible cows, and maybe a paragraph detailing how there might be one in the reader's home. And the next time I tell a joke and it no one laughs, I'm using that "it's funnier if you've been to Mauna Kea Observatories in Hawaii" excuse. Who'se going to say I'm not right? --Sir Hardwick Fundlebuggy (Bleat) 12:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Invisible milk, beef and cheese are sold on the black market where I live... -- Hindleyite 19:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ha, good one! Road accidents: when my son was a wee tot we would amuse ourselves on long boring drives by suddenly shouting "Invisible Cow!" and swerving. On deserted roads, obviously. A caution, though: if you expand into more angles I would advise that you keep them fresh. With a good wide-angle premise like you have here repetition is a danger: Sir Fundlebuggy is right in suggesting other angles, I think, but resist the temptation to simply ring variations on the jokes which work so well in the current version. I hope I haven't spread more confusion than clarity. This is a good piece, and well worth polishing. ----OEJ 18:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Nice. I stole that idea, by the way, and modified it into some weird narrative-joke that makes only a little bit of sense. It is completely different from the rest of the article though, which is hopefully a good thing. I'll need some images of invisible dairy products though. Any pictures of "empty" glasses or dishes would be useful. --The Acceptable Cainad (Fnord) 02:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Humour: | 8 | Really funny. |
Concept: | 9 | The whole invisible cows thing is genius, especially the part about how they can't form societies or relationships. Genius. |
Prose and formatting: | 9 | Excellent prose and organization. Serious, yet funny. |
Images: | 8 | The images themselves were well-thought-out, and the captions really set them off. |
Miscellaneous: | 7 | Nice Colin Mochrie quote. |
Final Score: | 41 | This is VFH material, in my opinion. |

It's pretty decent, but VFH currently has a whole batch of top notch articles on it so I'm not going to vote for it just yet. I know a bunch of people told you to put in the road accident bit but as that stands it doesn't fit with the tone of the article and isn't terribly funny in its own right so I'd change it majorly or cut it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kelpan (talk • contribs)
Philosophy!!![edit source]
I think the article should start with a kind of reference to the wittgensteinien concept of the "There's a hippopotamus in this room" thing, like, except with invisible cows, but yeah, anyway, this article is really funny.-- 10:36, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
