User talk:Multiliteralist/Leonardo daVinci's secret failures
Arite. My idea for starting this article was slightly different - to collect Da Vinci-related stuff from the Internets, and then writing the article. But go ahead any way you like since you already started! The main thing is (for my intentions) that it includes evidence that Da Vinci was not quite the inventor we think he was. Put it subtly or bluntly. Of course all of the article does not need to be about that, if it contains even something I can use as evidence in the related UnNews article. -- Style Guide 10:17, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
- there are always Da Vinci stories about. What he invented the Da Vinci Code, a system of signalling using paintings? Or has that joke already been used here??--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 11:48, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter, as long as it can be used as evidence against Da Vinci's "genius". -- Style Guide 12:08, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
- I fear mention of Dan Brown and his cancerous effect on literature is a cliché too gargantuan. The inventor, painter, writer, artist and charmer himself didn't put up his life's work just so he could be reduced to The Da Vinci Code. I think there are many a good one-liner that could be drawn from the man independent of modern derivatives. --
- How about a subtle reference to The Da Vinci Commode"? Ended up failing because it had such a back up of effluence.... ;) -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Mhaille you tit! Great to see you around! -- Style Guide 12:32, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
- Now that's how to write a reference. --
- Just wrote the one about the code - sorry if there were edit conflicts. I'm done for now. -- Style Guide 13:04, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. My only other suggestion would be change Leonardo's birth/death dates to be the actual ones as putting down random dates is one of my particular bug bears.--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 09:42, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
- OK, why not. I just slapped on something that looked close. You didn't like my changes in the trouser press section and the Annal Rammer bit? No matter, it's basically your article. -- Style Guide 11:29, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
- And don't take the above the wrong way - I really meant this one to be more yours than mine. It would partly work as additional evidence of da Vinci being sucky, linked to the UnNews piece which is waiting for this to come out. We have another going with Somdomite - that one concentrates directly on why Edison was better than da Vinci. If you want different ideas from what I have been turning out, let me know. -- Style Guide 06:13, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
- In fact, it would look good overall if you used some Leonardo-related stuff in this article. Giant crossbow actually was Leonardo's invention, but hey: it really was a rip-off of ballista, and besides, hopelessly behind in times. Gunpowder had been invented, and it wouldn't be long before all those things would be useless. I then thought it would be a good idea to continue the joke with the forty-man spear and the axe of five dozen handles. Those ideas would draw out the Edison-article too much if explained, so I would appreciate it if you added them in this one. I could then link it. -- Style Guide 06:47, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm ok. It could end in a dirty long list. Also there is a pre existing Leonardo article here which covers some of the same ground.--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 14:43, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. Mention only the ones that make interesting reading, ones you can ground well. The other Leonardo-article is about the whole deal, while our idea is only to point out why he sucked at inventing. The other one is also pretty aimless, it seems. I had no power to read it through, the jokes were too random. -- Style Guide 17:48, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
