Welcome, Necropaxx, to Uncyclopedia.

Hello, Necropaxx, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! By making this account, you've signaled to us that you like this site. This makes us "users" very happy. We're always glad to have new users, and we hope that you decide to stay here.

Now, it's not as simple as just creating an account. To have the best experience at Uncyclopedia, there are a few things we'd like you to know:

  1. To get a better picture about who we are and what we do here, read What Uncyclopedia is not. Knowing exactly what you are getting into will help you decide if you really want to spend time here, and help keep you from getting into trouble with the other users if you decide you do.
  2. If you're new to wikis and aren't sure exactly how to edit pages, it is highly recommended that you read Help:HowTo. This is a helpful page that can give you some basic groundwork in editing wikis.
  3. If you've got a good idea of how wikis work and you want to edit, please first read The Beginner's Guide to Being an Uncyclopedian and then Uncyclopedia:How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid. These two guides can save you months on becoming an experienced user on Uncyclopedia. I cannot stress this enough: Read these two guides BEFORE attempting to edit a page!
  4. In addition, to dispel any myths you may carry about Uncyclopedia, read Uncyclopedia:Vanity Policies. Uncyclopedia is not about you. Do NOT clutter it with stuff about yourself. Sorry if that came off a little harsh, but honestly, if you knew how many idiots do not understand this, you'd wish it were harsher.
  5. If you ignored what I wrote above and went ahead and edited anyway and are now banned because of it, I suggest going back and reading The Beginner's Guide to Being an Uncyclopedian again, paying special attention to the section on civility. If your ban came because of a misunderstanding due to you being new at this stuff (in other words, a n00b), you can appeal the ban with the administrator who banned you. A list of active administrators is at Uncyclopedia:Active Admins.
  6. If you think you've got a great idea for an article and want to begin writing it, there are two choices: a) Create it in the Mainspace with a {{construction}} tag, or (and this is what the pros usually do) b) Create it in your userspace. For example, if you wanted to create an article on Pie, you would create it by typing User:Necropaxx/Pie in the Search bar and clicking "Create." If you create an article in your userspace, it can fester for as long as you want and it will not get deleted. If you use the construction tag, your article will be checked on in a week to see if any improvements were made. If none were, it gets deleted. So creation in your userspace is the preferred option.
  7. Have text for your new article but no images? There's a guide for how to do that here. Be sure to read Uncyclopedia:Image use policy before uploading to prevent getting wrongfully banned.
  8. On in-jokes: Before adding potentially unfunny stuff to your (or other people's, for that matter) articles, read Uncyclopedia:In-jokes and find out just why Kitten huffing, Grues, and Chuck Norris aren't funny. Then avoid them like the plague.
  9. Getting involved: Here at Uncyclopedia we have a dying THRIVING community of users and admins. Most of them are pretty friendly. Ask lots of intelligent questions and you'll be welcomed warmly. Ask stupid questions, over and over, and you'll make enemies faster than you can type 'lol.' But where to ask questions in the first place? There are a few forums that we use to yell at each other. The most popular is Forum:Village Dump. The Dump is used for community-related discussion. Nonsense has its own forum: Forum:BHOP. For interactive help, you can use the Help Forum. For admin-related discussion, we have Forum:Ministry of Love.
  10. For personal, one-on-one help from another, more experienced user, you should check out the Uncyclopedia:Adopt-A-Noob program. Adopters set their own terms on how to graduate, but once you do you can be confident in your Uncyclopedia knowledge.
  11. Remember: your userpage is your own space where you can put almost anything you want. Keep it there, and not anywhere else.
  12. Custom signatures are cool and get you a lot more respect than if you have the boring standard signature. A tutorial on how to make one is located here. Also, read Uncyclopedia:Signatures to know the limits placed on signatures.

Well, that about does it. Follow this advice and Uncyclopedia will be a great place. Don't, and it will be nothing but a short, unpleasant memory. Again, welcome to Uncyclopedia! Necropaxx (T) {~} 05:25, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
