Just imagine that the "Originality" category is, instead, "Prose," because "Originality" is basically the same exact thing as "Concept" and for god knows why "Prose" is not a factor to consider on this comedy writing website.

House of Hangover[edit | edit source]

  • Humour - Score: 6/10 Comment: A series of ridiculous scenarios that are laid out at our feet and never expanded upon. What gives? This is very fertile ground for hyperbolic humor, don't just state it and let it lie there like a wagging fish, go deeper!
  • Concept - Score: 7/10 Comment: I'm a sucker for puns. This one was obvious, but commendable. Did not stray at all from the concept very much, so that's all well and good.
  • Originality - Score: 5/10 Comment: The quote by Oscar Wilde felt stilted in a strange, foreign way. Again, I felt like the understated, rather dry nature of the prose does not do the article much of a service given the outsized concept.
  • Formatting - Score: 7/10 Comment: Stumpy but presentable.
  • Images - Score: 8/10 Comment: There are images. Great gallery.
  • Total - Score: 33/50 Comment: For an article about Drunken Royalty, this needs to be drunker and more royal, if ya catch my drift.

UnNews:Leprechauns support Obama[edit | edit source]

  • Humour - Score: 4/10 Comment: Sorry fella, but this just did not make me laugh a bit. Probably because the article is so simple as...
  • Concept - Score: 3/10 Comment: People from Boston are Leprechauns, because of Irish. Ha? You don't capitalize on the potential absurdity at all, shrugging off only token references to pots of gold and the like. The sentence about other fairy tale creatures opens an interesting vista for exploration, but you ignore it for more canned jokes. None of the Obama stuff is original or groundbreaking, either (Yes we can? Yo man it's literally 4 years later)
  • Originality - Score: 4/10 Comment: Several grammatical errors that rupture the article's flow. Quotes straddle the middle ground between plainspeak and stereotyped dialect. This is not good.
  • Formatting - Score: 6/10 Comment: De-italicize the quotes. Some misspellings. Standard for UnNews.
  • Images - Score: 7/10 Comment: Not bad
  • Total - Score: 24/50 Comment: Inherently flawed by concept, but there are the buddings of good ideas in here, plus some downright decent craftsmanship for a fresh writer.
