Uncyclopedia:Pee Review/Thierry Henry
Thierry Henry[edit source]
A big mug o' reviewin' strength tea? Why, that must mean this article is being reviewed by: UU - natter (While you're welcome to review it as well, you might like to consider helping someone else instead). (Also, if the review hasn't been finished within 24 hours of this tag appearing, feel free to remove it or clout UU athwart the ear'ole). |
Humour: | 2 | Oh man, let me guess: you're a Gooner? This is not really that funny. It contains elements of randomness; it certainly isn't funny to non-footie fans; it has gay 'jokes' which always reduce my score unless they're done for irony, which these don't seem to be. Basically, it's a short step from VFD. |
Concept: | 3 | Well, articles on real people can be decent, but they need a decent approach, and you don't have a concept here beyond "write about Henry being dead good at football, having big lips, and leaving Arsenal". |
Prose and formatting: | 4 | No massive mistakes, but it's not brilliantly written, and lists are almost always a no-no. Particularly when they're trivia lists and not funny. |
Images: | 4 | Well they're relevant, I suppose. |
Miscellaneous: | 3.3 | Averaged |
Final Score: | 16.3 | To be honest, this is the kind of thing we see on VFD quite regularly. If you want to write something about a football player that makes you laugh, send it to a fanzine, post it on 606 or something. If you want to write a decent Uncyclopedia article, this is a bad start. Have a look at the comments below, and then decide if this is what you want to do. If it is, good luck, if not, cheerio! |

Right, comments:
Read HTBFANJS. That's what we're aiming for here: articles that are funny even if you are not familiar with the subject. So you need to find a way to make the article funny to non-football fans. Perhaps his "Va-Va-Voom" car ads may help a little here, albeit still on a limited scale (they're really UK only, and we're international here!)
Read Buster Keaton. This is an example of an article about a famous person that made it to highlight. There aren't many of these. Note the fact that it has structure, jokes that can be understood without a detailed prior knowledge of the man and his works, and a coherent central concept (in this case, the biography style, often a good starting point for articles on real people.
Don't sign your articles . Just sign talk pages.
Basically, as I said above, you need to decide if you want to try and write a decent Uncyclopedia article, or just to write something a bit daft about a player you used to idolise. If it's the latter, there are other sites for you. If the former, may I suggest getting adopted by an experienced Uncyclopedian, who will help and guide you through the thorny process of writing a good article. It can help immensely, and there are plenty of friendly types prepared to do it. Just put {{adoptme}} on your userpage, and someone will be along to help.
Hope this helps, but remember, this is only my opinion, others are available, and good luck! --Sir Under User (Hi, How Are You?) VFH KUN 10:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
