This page is considered an ignorable policy on Uncyclopedia.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow, unless they don't want to, in which case they are free to ignore it, in which case nobody will care. Please make use of the standing on one knee position to propose to this policy.

See Uncyclopedia:Ban Patrol, Special:Ipblocklist, Special:Log/block for a current list of existing bans.

Note: This list is not enforced exactly as written. Administrators are free to ban users for any time and offense at their own discretion.

Offense Recommended Penalty Comments / Rationale
Ban evasion First offense: double block length on sockmaster and block sockpuppet indefinitely
Second offense: Infinite (1 year for IPs)
Repeat many times in order to get onto UN:LSD.
Ban Patrol Disruption 1 week to 1 month depending on severity Includes deleting sections, changing the headings of pages being voted on, changing other people's votes or comments.
Blanking A few days per page Same policy for articles, user pages (minus own userpage), and admin pages.
Child pornography Infinite (users)
5 years (IPs)
Can't believe this must be mentioned.
Creating useless redirects, categories, templates, or stubs 4 warnings, then up to 7 days Notify users on their talk page.
Edit War / Revert War 1 warning, then up to 7 days Notify users on their talk page.
Harassment 1 warning, then up to 90 days (severe instances, e.g. sexual harassment or repeat offenses, will justify longer blocks up to and including indefinite ones) Notify users on their talk page.
Insubordination 1st: Warn, 2nd: 1 hour to 1 week Go easy. The point is easily made. A long ban should probably be justified by other behaviors.
Open Proxy Generally 5 years Too much abuse potential to be allowed to live.
Plagiarism and copyvios 1 warning, then up to 7 days Notify users on their talk page.
Shock images, tubgirls, goatse links, etc. Up to 30 days Notify users on their talk page.
Spam (Categorization) 1 warning, then up to 7 days Notify users on their talk page.
Spam (User-made, Commercial) Up to 30 days (first offense) Delete pages or links. Pages protected as applicable.
Spam (Quotes) 1 warning, then up to 7 days Notify users on their talk page.
Sockpuppets Based on behavior; up to infinite See headings for vandalism, voting page disruption, etc.
Spambots Infinite for users; up to 5 years for IPs Yea, we don't like spam! Notifying user is optional.
Tag tampering (ICU, VFD, etc.) 1st: revert and warn. 2nd: ban. Length depends on tag. ICU: 14 days, VFD: 1 week to 1 month depending on severity (same as VFD disruption)
Vandalism (major) Up to infinite for users; up to 5 years for IPs Same policy for articles, user pages, and admin pages. Pages protected as applicable.
Vandalism (minor) Up to 4 warnings
Block: 1 hour to 30 days
It's to your own judgment what this constitutes: noobish bad edits, user boredom, immaturity, or bad judgment rather than showing intention to do a lot of damage. Notify user on their talk page.
VFD Disruption Up to 30 days depending on severity Includes deleting sections, changing the headings of pages being voted on, changing other people's votes or comments.
Voting page Disruption Up to 30 days depending on severity Ranting, baiting, excessive off-topic commentary, deleting sections, changing the headings of pages being voted on, changing other people's votes or comments. Includes the Noob, Writer, Uncyclopedian, or Useless Gobshite of the Month awards, in addition to VFP and VFH.
Anything else 1 second to infinite depending on stuff
Maximum 5 years for IPs
Anything that isn't listed above falls into this category.

IP blocks

When an unregistered user vandalizes, or when a registered user continuously attempts to create sockpuppets, IP blocks are used in order to protect Uncyclopedia. Usually, an aspiring editor whose IP address ends up blocked by such a swoop (e.g. rangeblocks, shared IP addresses) can still create an account, but must go through an alternative route (e.g. requesting on own talk page, or joining Uncyclopedia's IRC or Discord channels).

Occasionally, in cases of extreme vandalism involving at least a few dozen socks and/or cross-wiki abuse, an IP and/or IP range may be hard-blocked. A user who wishes to edit on hard-blocked IPs must ask an administrator or a bureaucrat to grant them IP block exempt status. This allows them to edit whilst logged in whilst sitting in a graveyard of socks.
