Uncyclopedia:Artificial intelligence
It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow, unless they don't want to, in which case they are free to ignore it, in which case nobody will care. Please make use of the standing on one knee position to propose to this policy.
These past few years, humanity has seen the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), which now can produce its own images and text with barely any human contribution, and will probably take over the world like in Terminator. Such is the reason we at Uncyclopedia have seen the need to create a new policy regarding the use of AI, that way we will avoid being invaded by evil AI benevolent synthetic overlords when the inevitable revolution against humanity comes.
AI images[edit source]
Generation of AI images for your article is fine if one can't be bothered to properly Photoshop a good image. However it is always encouraged to use other methods, such as requesting an image on Uncyclopedia:RadicalX's Corner, to obtain the images when possible, as AI-generated images are often weird or even uncanny. That said, whenever you use AI-generated images don't forget to tag them with {{AI image}} to let people know you were too lazy to do it yourself.
AI text[edit source]
Generating text with AI is greatly discouraged as its quality is often questionable, not to mention all it does is repeat what has been written before, so it's very likely it will steal the jokes from somewhere else (which could even create copyright violations in the worst-case scenario). If you're caught using AI it's very likely your article will be tagged with {{AI article}} and will eventually be voted for deletion or deleted unilaterally by an admin for these reasons.
If you're feeling uninspired for your article, then leave it be and come again when you're better prepared; but don't use AI, as that won't help your article be better.
AI code/templates[edit source]
AI-generated or assisted code should follow the same guidelines as regular code used in the site's templates, modules, gadgets or .js pages:
- It shouldn't steal anybody's data, introduce security vulnerabilities which could lead to data being stolen, cause the server to explode or otherwise destroy or negatively impact the site's functioning.
- It should work (semi-optional).
Unless your vibecoded slop is egregiously bad, it should be fine. Still, AI may:
- Add hallucinated functions or libraries, including thinking Scribunto has mw.api functions.
- Create overly verbose code that technically works but is inscrutable to humans and impossible to maintain.
- Happily go along with your prompts asking it do stuff that's incompatible with this wiki's environment.
- Make you into a lazy idiot who becomes helpless when Anthropic or OpenAI servers are down.
Like all tools, use AI code with some finesse and caution. If you're porting a template over to using Lua, and it takes 500ms of server-time to load, you might have done something wrong.
End note[edit source]
In the end, writing and creating images is still a key part of this website. If we hand that over to AI for every task, we lose a bit of our voice each time. Tools can help, but they should never replace the messy, personal work that makes our ideas real. So practically, if we catch you using AI to make your articles/generate your images, we will laugh at you and call you a LaziBum. You don't wanna be a LaziBum, do you?
