Bleah, I give up. This anything remotely like what you had in mind, Mr. Lydon? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 05:37, 25 December 2010

  • Aye. See my note on John's talk page about a mistake in the 13 quotes. Aye. Aleister 23:52 Christmas MMX
Sorry about that. Is it how it ought now? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 01:18, 26 December 2010
Perfect! The code has been fixed, and all is right with the world. Shepards quake at the sight. Aleister 2:15 26 12

However retaliatory, however deserved--it's cyber-bullying. Not even a particularly inept and notoriously thin-skinned editor should get this back from us. Spıke ¬ 02:19 26-Dec-10

Perhaps it is, and the longer the nonsense goes on, the less funny this becomes... when John Lydon wrote this, however, it was something simpler - reaction to the hit and run of a user, about whom we really knew nothing. I'm too lazy to actually check, but I'm pretty sure the fellow had not come back yet at the time, so there really was only the edits to go off of; it was not unlike Fisher Price or that IP article Msu reformated, working with something essentially useless and trying to turn it funny.
Then the fellow came back, kept coming back. Ruined everything. Waged war, and self-declared warriors war back, and it devolves from the initial hurling of insults and small rodents into an outright pile of flaming and muskoxen silliness. Such is the way of things. Pity; this was funny at first. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 03:59, 26 December 2010
Was and is hilarious; that's not the problem. But it was cyber-bullying to start with; all that has changed is that the object of the piece now, famously, won't go away, and for this page to hit mainspace or be called to his attention won't help matters in the least. Spıke ¬ 12:19 26-Dec-10
An in-depth reasoning of why this shouldn't have occurred or continue is just water on top of the bridge (dripping from Teddy Kennedy's pantslegs as he walks away whistling like nothing has happened). The funny thing about Riker was that he made 12 minor edits, some actually clever, then actually opened a Forum page to complain about not being funny and making an exit. So those 12 edits (I still think the page should just include the 12 and not go on to the aftermath) have been elevated in stature as they are the basis of an overblown exit strategy. The other stuff is another kettle of fishheads (fishheads floating in the cold waters of Chappaquidiq) and probably of no importance when pertaining to this particular page by John Lydon. Dems my two cents, and I want a penny change. Aleister 12:28 26 12
Before anyone gets their dander up for mainspaceing what some consider "cyber bullying", please keep in mind that this was done far before things turned nasty. I simply found it humorous that someone with only twelve edits would attempt to make such a grand exit as this. I thought it was worth capsulating at the moment. I left for a few weeks, and when I came back everything had gotten ugly. But the humor and effort are all there and it seems a shame to let them rot because of some malicious banter. I decided to main space it, not to be cruel but to show the creativity and humor of the matter. If it gets VFD then so be it. But what better way to make amends to a user who felt underappreciated then to give them their very own article? --John Lydon 16:36, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

John, my dander isn't up. I take lots of crappy articles to VFD; unfortunately, this one just isn't crappy. I've asked ChiefjusticeDS if he thinks there is a policy issue such as cyberbullying, and I will be satisfied with whatever decision he makes. Spıke ¬ 16:59 3-Jan-11

  • Comment: This kind of thing only reinforces parody from the outside that we're about humour which only we can 'get'. Also drama and this reeks of personal attack and validating attention seeking trolls. No matter how well written, it is what it is.--Sycamore (Talk) 17:26, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't targeting you specifically Spike, so Apologies if it came off that way. If Chief says it's a no go then I can live with that. Sycamore, as far as humor only we can get, I thought the thirteen edits being listed did a good job of enlightining most on the topic. I can definately see how some would consider it cyberbullying, but bear in my mind that the article does not personally attack anyone. You could swap any number of users who made an adrupt depature from Uncyc in to the poem and it will still be just as good. Again, I will not argue any decision that's made on the article's continued existance, but I think it would be a shame to let good work go to waste because this is the hot topic at the moment. Just my 2 pennies. --John Lydon 18:05, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
All is well, John. Sycamore, I agree that, the danger to Uncyc (other than the generic problem that led to the rule on cyberbullying) would be if it prolonged the Riker drama. I did ask an Admin to delete a gloating section of a Forum that tried to call Riker's attention here. I don't care at all that it's an in-joke, nor do I care what "the outside" is saying about us. If they are saying the only humor we accept is in-jokes, well, they should visit once in a while. Spıke ¬ 18:13 3-Jan-11
