HOLLYWOOD, California -- Some of Hollywood's biggest stars -- including Tom Arnold, Joey Fatone, and that fat guy from Titanic -- gathered at the Dolby Theater as washed-up comedian Sinbad and former child star Macaulay Culkin announced the nominees for Lie of the Year 2013.
Best Original Written Lie nominees include Lance Armstrong Won All Those Tour de France Races Without Steroids; Don't Worry, the Government Isn't Going to Shut Down; and Britney Spears May Retire After Vegas.
Best Adapted Lie nominees include Your Shoe's Untied; I Didn't Fart, You Did; Tate Stevens is Gonna Be a Huge Country Star After Winning The X Factor; Kenan Wants Nothing to Do with Kel; and Don't Be Silly, Honey. That Dress Doesn't Make You Look Fat.
New this year are Best April Fool's Joke and Best Celebrity Death Hoax. The Rocko's Modern Life "lost episode" turning out to be a static image of a jar of mayonnaise for 30 minutes, is considered to be the frontrunner for April Fool's Joke; while Bill Cosby is said to be a lock for Celebrity Death Hoax.
In the acting categories, horrible X Factor contestant Carlito Olivero and disgraced cyclist Armstrong are likely victors for Best Liar. Neil Young is said to be the favorite for Best Supporting Liar for claiming that his HD music player and service, PONO, would be released this year; it is not expected to be released until early next year.
In the prestigious Best Lie category, nominees include You Can Keep It; Lance Armstrong Won All Those Tour de France Races Without Steroids; Britney Spears's Eighth Album, Britney Jean, Flops; Carlito is the First Act in the Top Three; and Britney Spears May Retire After Vegas. This is the toughest category to predict, but many are placing their money on Obama's health care pledge, You Can Keep It.
Armstrong will receive the Charles Ponzi Lifetime Achievement Award for his longtime efforts to keep his steroid use a secret.
The Lie of the Year Awards will be telecast in February on ABC.
