Introduction

Okay, as some of you may know, I recently questioned the originality of an image of VFP. I will admit that I did it in a manner that unintentionally offended User:Prettiestpretty. While it seems to me that we have less and less unoriginal images being nominated, maybe we should set up some sort of universal flaging system? Maybe we could add it to the VFP template, so that in red letter the the left of the score it would read "Flagged". Or maybe we could add, once again in red cause red works, "Flagged" to the end of the image comment? You should all feel free to come up with ideas, but we need to come up with a system to avoid hurting people's feelings by using terms like "stolen". --The Zombiebaron 15:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Discussion

A more positive approach than a scarlet letter may be to engage the image creator in conversation. 'How in the world did you come up with that idea?' 'How did you make the picture?' etc. Submitters could be encouraged to offer that kind of information up front, even. Maybe more important than to establish provenance, little blurbs like that may give The Rest Of Us some hints on how to do better "work". Or just get people to use User:Hindleyite/Image_Review more? We should be moving this to its own namespace soon, but its a good place to see the evolution of images, as often changes occur after comments and suggestions... -- Sir Mhaille  (talk to me)
