* Athyria removes channel operator status from Athyria
<Olipro> unless someone's flooding the channel, then people can argue like bitches as much as they like
* Sockadelic starts flooding the channel.

First of all[edit source]

You guys are scary. Seriously.

Second of all[edit source]

Any wonder why Aleister, myself and other users never log onto IRC? --ShabiDOO 03:43, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

I'm still waiting for someone defending what goes on there to say that that kind of thing actually is okay on the wiki. But anyhoo... it really is rather scary, at that. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 03:46, 15 August 2011
Lyrithya, I find the whole conversation pretty lame, but what I find really revolting, is that some admins are telling you to shut up, stop whining and fuck off, when you are just trying to tell people your own personal limits as per joke vs. asshole dickery (and trying to start a general conversation about it). Anyone should feel free to do that, and ANY USER OR ADMIN WOULD if someone crossed those limits! --ShabiDOO 03:57, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
Five lines of caps? Seriously? This is almost as bad as when HanSolo had ops. As in, typically, unless someone is flooding the channel, you don't kickban them.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 04:08 Aug 15, 2011
Answer to this question: because you (plural) do not like joking around to the extent as can happen on IRC. That is not to say that kind of stuff doesn't happen on the wiki. People joke around intensely here also. But the key difference between IRC and the wiki is that the wiki is nonlinear; you skim over and avoid those places where people messing around is a bit too in-your-face for your tastes. IRC is linear, so you can hear stuff you don't want to hear, joking around to an extent that you are perhaps uncomfortable with. Whereas on the wiki you can skim others' conversations and deliberately choose not to get involved, on IRC, it can feel like you are always involved. But that's not actually the case. When things start getting too rough, you just lurk. Plain and simple. And when people come on that you'd like to converse with, you converse with them. If someone interrupts your conversations with trolling, that is of course another matter. Not what happened here, though - this was an op accidentally kickbanning someone instead of kicking them, and another op undoing the unintentional ban.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 04:18 Aug 15, 2011
Okay, does anyone here read what other people type, or do we all just live in our own little worlds seeing whatever it is we want to see and then assume anyone who doesn't read it as the same thing is a complete moron? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 04:37, 15 August 2011
I like to think that I read what people write. That still doesnt mean I dont live in my own little world. Dont we all? Lyrithya, I dont think you are going to get any satisfaction out of either of the forums. Sorry...its a bummer. --ShabiDOO 04:42, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
Of course we do. I'm sorry; I guess it's just frustrating to find some people don't even read things before they start taking sides and making things personal, regardless of what seems to be in plain view. I don't know why Skullthumper doesn't think this sort of raging results in a ban on-wiki, either, considering the dealy at the top of TKF's talkpage, in which a fellow raged at an admin - a dealy which did result in a ban. When the thing came back with further raging, it got banned again. But apparently that's not normal or something. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 04:55, 15 August 2011
