I just wanted to say that I'm glad that, after about a year of being broken, those "rate this article" stars on the left seem to be working again. Capital!

- Wow, I just gave it four "1" votes, and it's still 5.0. I take back what I said about it being working. 20:22, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

- Yeah, I updated it a little. The part that's not working is wikia's ratings extension, not the javascript part that I made. Just thought I'd point that out. If anyone's bothered the problem is:
- When getting the current vote from the voting extension, it's not broken so that it only gives you either your vote, or the current average vote (without doing at least two separate requests per page). It used to give both separately, but for as long as it's been broken, it's instead been providing your current vote on the article in place of the actual average. This is why it would only show up on articles you've already voted on, but when you voted, it would change to the actual average. Possibly including your vote, possibly not. Which is why voting a more than once seemed to have an effect. It didn't really. So to make it at least seem like it's working, it now shows the actual average (which includes any vote you've already made) when you load the page, but it doesn't show whether or not you've already voted. When you vote, it submits your vote and returns the correct average - but occasionally breaks so that if you've already voted and vote again, it doesn't resubmit the score properly, because of the original problem of knowing either your vote (and the fact you've voted) or the average. It also doesn't tell you that. Given the fact that in one page request you can only get either the average, or whether or not you've voted and what your vote was, it's hard to get it to work without making it excessive for what it is. Also, I couldn't be bothered to rewrite the code to account for all this, only the initial sense of whether it works.
- So until wikia fix their extension (maybe they're using a different one and I don't know it? Will investigate...) it'll stay broken here. The other option would be to just remove it until it actually works. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 03:26, 02 Dec 2009
- Ah, wikia's works because the rating is loaded as part of the skin, and once voted only shows you your vote, not the average. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 03:34, 02 Dec 2009
- It is my regret to inform you that this feature is still useless. Check out the articles with highest scores at Special:Top/highest_ratings. Doesn't it just make you sad? --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 22:22, December 3, 2009 (UTC)
- Then do something about it, you lazy cunt!
