Okay, here's the thing. I'd really like to take UnNews:Secret Republican memo leaked out out of the Recent UnNews template. The reasons are: 1) The prose is bad; 2) I am unable to locate anything funny about it; 3) It appears to be a political essay masquerading as comedy.

Unfortunately, Mordillo has instructed me not to remove articles from the Recent UnNews template unless they're "awful." Which makes me hesitant to remove this one. Because Mordillo draws a lot of water in this town, despite treating objects like women. I don't draw shit.

I think it's safe to say that Uncyclopedia has not endorsed a candidate, other than perhaps MrN, STM, and/or Famine. So I think it's important to establish a policy of "No articles from now until November on the front page that boil down to 'Vote for Obama' or 'Vote for McCain'." Obviously, hilarious articles about McCain and Obama are great, but using the template as a soapbox is not. And I think we're going to see more and more attempts at using it exactly that way as November approaches.

Thoughts? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 16:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Comment I say take it off. Uncyclopedia is a site for parody, not thinly veiled support for U.S elections (or any more foreign, more unimportant ones, for that matter). We really don't need this. I do see one way an article like that work, however. Look at the Marijuana page. Not whoring, just look at how it's presented. More articles like that, not OH MAH GAWDZ OBAMA/OSAMA TERRORIST IZ TEH GEYZ!!1!!, like many an IP seem to think funny. Chocolate Rain 17:01, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

For telling people to vote for Obama. Spang talk 17:29, 29 Aug 2008

wink We can tell them that after he's already won in November! Chocolate Rain 17:32, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi folks, as the author of the article I had no idea that there is any sort of politics policy on here ... Whatever, I have no big problem with the stuff being removed from the Recent UnNews template, but it seems that the article was deleted entirely now. I cannot see any sort of VFD or QuickVFD for it, it's just gone. Can anyone tell me what's going on here? What's more, I cannot open the main page at the moment, I always get some stupid Wikia error message, something like "from within function "WikiFactoryHub::loadCategories". MySQL returned error "1146: Table 'uncyclo.city_cats' doesn't exist (10.8.2.48)"." NaturalBornKieler (talk) Germany Flag 1.png 20:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

ok, the problem with the main page was only temporary or so it seems, so please disregard the last sentence. NaturalBornKieler (talk) Germany Flag 1.png 20:59, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
The article was deleted by Nytrospawn: 18:46, 29 August 2008 Nytrospawn (Talk | contribs) huffed "UnNews:Secret Republican memo leaked out" ‎ (Test failed: Super-stub-cruft. GTFO). I don't think there was any kind of process surrounding that. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 22:08, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Hm, I see. Just like that? I did not think it was so bad. And the code "(Test failed: Super-stub-cruft. GTFO)" is absolutely unintelligible to me. NaturalBornKieler (talk) Germany Flag 1.png 22:14, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I didn't think it was suitable for the template, but I personally wouldn't have deleted it entirely. But then, I am not an admin. The code parses to: "This article is a failure. It is too short, and it is an unnecessary attempt to regurgitate a tired topic. It needs to get the fuck out." Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 22:20, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Guys, the "process" here is that an admin deleted a new article. They can do that. QVFD is really just a way of pointing out potentially bad articles so that the admins who are sleeping otherwise engaged in important duties can find them more easily. NaturalBornKieler: I suggest you contact Nytrospawn on his talk page. He may let you have a copy of it back if you wanted to work on it in your personal userspace... Oh well, it's not such a big deal, I suppose I return to the international area and keep out of your US stuff which I essentially have no idea what it's all about ... Anyway, thanks for enlightening me on the adminspeak. Good night. NaturalBornKieler (talk) Germany Flag 1.png 23:12, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Hea! The last thing we want are people who "know stuff". Bloody hell, I remember the last time we have someone in here who actually knew what was going on and... um, actually I don't. Anyway, write about whatever the hell you want. Just make it funny. ;-) Also, don't worry about talking to the admins. They don't bite. Well, except for a few, but they have all had their shots, and the wounds heal in time. Have fun. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 23:20, Aug 29
Know stuff! What blasphemy is thee?!? Honey, get the shotgun! Chocolate Rain 23:32, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
I saw the humour in it. Other people might get it too if they watched the republican/fox news commentaries on the DNC speeches, and similar stuff. And I think Uncyc is quite lacking in election-related stuff. Which may be tired topic to some people, but it's news and there's going to be lots more news of it. And if it's in the news, unnews should be parodying it. Spang talk 04:24, 30 Aug 2008
But try to make it original, it sounded more like Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert than Fox News. Chocolate Rain 16:50, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
