Puppy, I can't seem to get anyone to help me proof read this article Streets of Laredo. It would be really appreciated if you could help me with it (spelling and grammar and stuff) or if you know any way to advertise this to other users :):):) --ShabiDOO 18:36, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback in the My Kitchen Rules article. I thought it might have all been a bit too harsh and not focused enough on being funny. When i get some time, i'll begin re-writing and adding a few things to it to improve it. I have moved all these discussions to your talk page as it is meant to be used. ...etc. Hey, that MrN guy was right, Mhaille hasn't used any time or year or second in his sig since he got here. And nobody cares. Maybe you have SPTSD from fighting too long for something not even worth mentioning. I like your going away message, it shows you love it here so you would be like Romeo or Juliet (one of those) if you left, and the other one (Romeo or Juliet) would awaken alive to find you dead, and all hell would break loose, and then you'd come back anyway within a few days and Mhaille would still have the same signature. So do what you want with your signature, you've earned that by now or my name isn't Aleister in Chains (it isn't), and Lyretheirya or however the name is spelled can do what L wants too. RAHB, I don't even know what syndrome those initials stand for. You are such a noob, which is a good thing (metamorphasis), and at least that Coca Cola page is back. Yay! Discordianism[edit source]

I looked through the article based on your comment about some of it not being accessible to people not familiar with Discordianism.

Frankly, though, I think most of it is explained in the article or in the images. The only real exceptions I found were the reference to Emperor Norton and the section:

"We know, we know!" she said. "It's all an Illuminati conspiracy being perpetrated by descendants of Adam Weishaupt who passed himself off as George Washington to start the Bavarian Illuminati in the United States! We have been training diligently to see all the fnords planted around us and found out that the Pentagon was built to contain Yog-Sothoth! It also has five sides, just like "fnord" has 5 letters, we each have 5 fingers, and Wilson's middle name, Anton, has 5 letters! We also highly suspect that Hagbard Celine is not The Midget in disguise but is actually an Illuminati agent trying to destroy the Discordian society from the inside! And...wait... why am I telling you this? You worked your evil Illuminati tricks on me! All is lost!"

But personally I think that section works--if the reader doesn't know the references, it sounds like meaningless paranoid babbling, which is I suspect what it was intended to sound like anyway.

Do you have some specific parts you think wouldn't be clear in the article? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  21:44, March 19, 2012 (UTC)

I'm sick. But I'll have a look at that one as soon as I get a chance to look at it with a fresh set of eyes. I'll probably end up rephrasing bits and pieces. I'm going to do what I can to keep it as accurate as possible and true to the original concept while making it accessible. Nominally Humane! 02:37 20 Mar

Pee Buddy[edit source]

A request on three bended knees, two of them not mine. Can one rule of the contest be that you can change your submission up until the very last minute? If I make a great recording on Tuesday, and then make a better one on Thursday, and then an even better one as I get better at it (and no, I will not be contesting) then that should be the entrant. This should make it more fun for those who really "get into" recording things. (p.s. what's Why? doing? Last I heard from him, he and I were discussing if a man is an ape, or if a dinosour is a bird, or both of those). Aleister (UTC)

There's no restriction on "locking" entries in until the start of judging. Even on the first day of judging there is a semi-amnesty where if there is a reasonable reason (ie if I'm asked nicely) there can be additions, removals, blah blah blah. Look, I'm making this up as I go along, so assume that I gave an intelligent response. I'm at work and sick so thinking is not a strong point. Nominally Humane! 02:27 20 Mar

Sorry to bother you, but I'm still wondering as opposed to why you did this? -- UserTalkContributions 03:18, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

I merged the content of the two articles that was worth salvaging (which was very little) into one article and rewrote it, along with changing much of the concept of the two and creating a spork of the Wikipedia entry. It was a merge and rewrite, which has been done a number of times before. Frosty has asked that it go onto VFD first though so I've added it back onto there. If it passes VFD then I'm going to be very, very annoyed though. Nominally Humane! 04:09 21 Mar
I donno enough math to judge either page (I haven't read yours yet, and will probably learn from it and be like a math whiz a few minutes later). But that math user seems to like it, so it must be good. Saw your hit list on your user page, that Technology page could be one to whank to. That is all. Aleister 10:50 21-3-(UTC)
Yeah. I think that might also be easier than starting on history of the world or language. I'm toying with either that or philosophy, just because I like going through Aristotle, Plato and Socrates. You guys rock![edit source]

Thanks for the corrections on 1984, guys! It's not because of a lack of scrutiny on my part. I read it again and again to find grammatical errors and couldn't find those you found. False coffee LMAO. This chain just started infecting Quebec with their presence recently. They have so much caffeine in their drinks that it'll make you perform the shell-shock dance! And I just put my hands on the French version of A Brave New World! Can't wait to read it! I'll go read Sylvia Plath and Bing Crosby articles, Al. Talk Mattsnow 11:12, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

The Starbucks story in Australia]. Although this article is written from a very Melbourne perspective. I remember seeing the Starbucks opening on Lygon street. I remember for about a week they had a lot of business. After that it went rapidly downhill. There are a few stores still surviving - usually within short distance of hotels, tourist traps and backpackers.
But as for your article - I did sweet fuck all. Your plot line was the clincher, and it was brilliant. The FA coming your way soon (I'm guessing) will be well deserved. Nominally Humane! 11:29 21 Mar
Thanks, I really did want to make a good one, because this book deserves it and haunted me. I was thinking about the article while at work, on the can, etc. I'm getting better at grammar but still can't believe how many mistakes I make, but as long as I got Al to clean up after me, that's alright lol. And I went to Starbucks once, took a big coffee (for $5, what a bunch of thieves) and almost had a panic attack half an hour later. I was hallucinating that my heart was about to stop. Maybe they put meth and ephedrine in there along with the caffeine dose meant for a horse :P So as far as I'm concerned, Starbucks doesn't exist, Starbucks never existed! Talk Mattsnow 11:58, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
Actually the issue isn't the caffeine - Starbucks coffee is, or at least was five years ago, a very weak coffee compared to Italian, French, Vietnamese, Turkish, or Melbourne coffee. The issue is that it's loaded with sugars and HFCS through the razoo. (Although I will admit that the coffee I usually drink will wake a corpse.) Nominally Humane! 12:06 21 Mar
Where can I get some of that? I have some corpses that are sleeping in rather inconvenient places. If I don't get some of that coffee, I'll have to resort to other means. Such as a flamethrower. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngWed, Mar 21 '12 12:58 (UTC)
Ha! I've had six cups of coffee my whole life - my caffeine hits came from soda, but gave that up years ago. Now chocolate gets me buzzed. Puppy, "Coke" is on VFD and I suggested it be redirected to "Cocaine" and "Coke" redirected to "Coca-Cola". Sound like it'd work? (I'm asking you because your name is dragged thru the mud, I mean mentioned, on the VFD entry). And I moved the sections around on Bing Crosby, does the renamed "vandal" section seem okay where it is now? Thanks.Aleister (UTC)
Much betterer. I'm not a fan of the coke page. I never was, which is why I rewrote it, then chickened out and put my rewrite under a different name, and then changed it into a redirect. Given the topic that article needs to be good, not just okay, imnho. And I've decided to join in throwing mud at myself on VFD. Nominally Humane! 09:22 21 Mar

Question[edit source]

Is there an infobox template that is not too ugly where I could add just anything I want on the left side and a picture? It's for the article User:Mattsnow/Resident Evil, as you suggested in the review, it would be cool to have one, but I tried copy and pasting the WP one and it didn't work. Not that I really want that one since you just can't put the "topics" you want (stuff on the left). Talk Mattsnow 18:33, March 23, 2012 (UTC)

Matt: look here to see if there's anything you like. There's an {{Infobox CVG}} (Computer and Video Games), but that one's shit. I could fix it up for you if you like. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngFri, Mar 23 '12 20:23 (UTC)

I'll work on that one if you keep on polishing Captain Planet, and we'll stick them on VFD in a week or so to warrant them surviving. (I don't think Fetish needs much work at all. Thanks for the feedback on my James Rolfe page. I knew someone would pick up on that TMNT bit being out of date with the time it took place. I did think about changing that later, but thought, "fuck it, who will care enough?" but you proved that theory wrong!

I'll give it some more thought into expanding on what you said... and yeah, the pics I felt where a bit dull in the captions spot. But you should have seen them in the original, original, original, unsibmitted, only in preview mode, drafts.. they sucked even more.

Always write more than you need, if there is something worth writing. It's always easier to trim an article down to leave the best bits behind rather than add more content. And size is only an issue if the jokes are few and far between. Mathematics is long, but (hopefully) works at that length. Isaac The Tank Engine I was worried about being too long, and was advised to have it longer if there was more material that worked. Trimming and condensing is part of polishing. Nominally Humane! 09:57 26 Mar

I'll leave it as is until after feature, and then incorporate the changes. I have no issue with anyone adding to any article. Although I'm taking credit for the feature, I don't get the whole "this is mine, so leave alone" thing usually. There have been at least 7 users who've had input on this, and that's not counting the Wikipedia editors I've parodied or the editors of the old versions of this and Math. Nominally Humane! 10:00 28 Mar
Congrats on the feature. I'm going to have to read it closely. Soooooooo, this puts you over 30 features, nice. I think only 14 people are walking the globe with 30 features, and seven of them are Sog and his sockpuppets. Have a drink on me (here's some electronic money). Al 22:18 28-3-2005
All I have to do is hope that you and Hype quit and Soggy stays away and I might even catch up. Nominally Humane! 10:42 28 Mar
I have quit, a long time ago. I am now only recycling the exact language into multiple articles, and have used pics about two dozen times apiece on my "feature" pages. But 30 features is amazing, as are 20, and I remember when I got my fifth it was really fun. So once past somewhere like 10 is very rare - and anything above that is gravvy sitting on a turkey who doesn't want it there. I don't know how I got so many, just kept writing, I mean recycling, and there the number is. It's taken me and five sockpuppets (thanks mom, and Jimmy, and the Gorman twins, and then a guy I know from the place with the food did a few) lots of words to put so many together, most of them used often and with rapid consistency. But 30 is amazing, so bask in the niceness of it (although there are two or three people just one ahead of you, go man go!). And shouldn't God be an automatic 1/2 for the major writers on it (I wasn't here yet, but throw me 1/2 a feature for it and I'll send you a cake, or at least a box of cake mix). Aleister 00:40 29-3
Guildy was once criticized for writing the same three articles over and over again. I think that there are a lot of similarities between most of mine, but it's just a style thing. I can look at an article and say that it's more my style or yours. Mind you, I looked at one the other day and thought "This is funny - who wrote it" and then realised it was one of mine that I forgot about. Nominally Humane! 12:46 29 Mar
I read that one too, but it was one of mine. You must have read the history wrong. Three articles over and over again? I have one, it's like a template I paid someone to put together and you just have to open a dictionary at random and point to a word, and they are interchangable. It does wonders for my ego and super-ego, both of which I keep fighting each other like scorpions in a jar (ah, I'll have to use that, maybe on Jed Clampett's wallet). This is all true. Here, I'll write a short story from the template now:
She walked into the room, gazed at the table overflowing with the goodness of the earth, and decided to wait until she was good and hungry to walk over to it.
There, anyone reading that will wonder what happens next. When will she walk over to the table, who is the villian who will then reach for her hand and draw it away, rather than towards, the goodness. It all is written here (/shuffles papers, finds the ending template) and, let's see, ah, she starves! She never gets to eat! Surprise ending, that, except she is then put on the table! Aleister 00:59 29
It remind me of Aslan at the stone table. Hang on - are you telling me you keep ripping off the plot line of Narnia over and over again? Who would do that? Nominally Humane! 01:49 29 Mar
What? No, no, I never read Narnia, and know nothing about an Asian at a stoned tablet. It's this damn template, the author of Narnia must have the same model. But, seriously, have never read it, although I did see the first film when it came out and there was a lion and an interesting closet in there, and some goddess image. That's all I remember. It was boring and I didn't concentrate on the storyline. There was snow too. Aleister 2:10 29-December-'11

Something interesting[edit source]

An interesting Australian teacher (maybe real, maybe not) left a note on one of my Narnia inspired pages, UnBooks:A new lease on life, and I moved it to the talk page. I guess she didn't like the rape stuff on the page, but in context it works. She's in your area, at least on the same Island, so I thought you'd might want to contact her and have a serious discussion about our site. She actually sounds nice (but could be a 15-year-old boy wanking). Say hi from me if you call her, and tell her the page was almost entirely written in one of our one-hour contests, that should impress her and you and her can date and name the first child after me. I added the pics and vids, and did some clean up on the article later, but not much. Patting myself on the back, and when you meet her, pat her on the back for me. Aleister 12:40 29-3-'12

Call her, date her, marry her, and remember whose name the first kid gets. Plus you have a day to work on Technology wherever it is you're working on it. Aleister 13:14 29-3-12
If she's an English teacher then she should be fired. The sad thing is that the address, signature, the school, and one of the names she mentioned are all real. But what teacher would describe her students as "hot girls". Oh, and she lives around an 8 hour drive away. Which would be okay if I had a car. Nominally Humane! 09:26 29 Mar
Could be a student hoping we harrass her, when the exact opposite would occur. We'd honor her and give her roses. Jeez, no administrator on again to change the feature, that old dusty feature is taking up electronic space where current features could go. Aleister 00:16 30-3
Oh well, too late now. I guess we'd better leave it there for the week do nobody else gets upset. Nominally Humane! 12:20 30 Mar
And I've done little more than trim down the Wikipedia version of Technology so far, but it will start being created in Wikipedia:User:PuppyOnTheRadio/Technology once I start, as will Wikipedia:User:PuppyOnTheRadio/Law and Wikipedia:User:PuppyOnTheRadio/History of the world. Not too ambitious, are you. Not to criticize, but to praise. If only the Australian English teacher/vandal student can see that list! Aleister 1:24 30-3-'12
Oh, the top 10 will probably be cooking for ages, let alone the top 100. But it helps to have a focus, and this is a good focus. On that top 10, we're 20% of the way to having them all as features. Given my style is mine though, I'd like to see other's picking up this list as well. Art seems to be most of the way there, given a quick once over. Given I have a tendency to rewrite by completely destroying the previous stuff, that would be better handled by someone else. Have I dropped enough hints yet? Nominally Humane! 03:20 30 Mar

Hay ho? Nominally Humane! 05:10 31 Mar

An actual apparition?[edit source]

Those are incredibly rare, dude. Are you absolutely certain there's no way it could have been...a mirage? An illusion? Or an intentional trick? (Such as a projection on a flat surface?) And had you been...imbibing at the time? ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSat, Mar 31 '12 4:58 (UTC)

I was stone cold sober. And while I can't completely rule out my friend trying to trick me, he didn't have the technical capacity to do it. As for an illusion - the fact that I could hear the crying first (I heard it from another room, while gave me the major heebee-jeebees) and then went into the room and saw it is odd. If I had seen it and then heard the noise I'd be more likely to dismiss it as some kind of odd mental glitch. And after I saw it, I decided that I didn't want to see it any more, and so shut the door and left.
There are plenty of theories I have come up with to explain what I saw. Basically it comes down to me having hallucinated - and a hallucination that others had seen before me, I was tricked, or I saw something that I can't understand. I've all but ruled out the first two due to it not having been just me who had experienced it, even though the person with me couldn't see what I could, and because my friend was just not that clever. So something I don't understand is what I'm left with as the most likely answer. That doesn't mean I believe in life after death, or spirits of the dead wandering the world, or emotional echoes able to be left behind in a place. I could dismiss it as a hallucination, but having hallucinated at other times (later in life) this was much more of a lucid feeling. All it means is I don't know enough to know what it was. And being so completely ignorant is kinda cool. Nominally Humane! 05:23 31 Mar
You approach it from an objective point of view, so (if I hadn't guessed it already) I know you're not one of those moon-eyed, "angels! Weeee! I wuv angels!" type of people.
Could the apparition have been a hallucination prompted by external stimulus? There was a cock-a-mamie theory I heard once, which chalked apparitions up to "electrical fields caused by water filtering through porous limestone beneath the ground surface". Now, when I hear a phrase like that, I think "radioactive spider bite causes mutant powers!". But still, the fact that more than one person has seen something similar is not, in itself, proof that it couldn't be a "hallucination". There could be some phenomena which prompts such effects in a small subset of people, perhaps in 10% of the population whose visual cortices are wired a certain way. This might also explain why two people standing in the same room don't see the same thing.
I hope you don't mind my curiosity; I like to think of myself as a hard skeptic, but I find stories like this fascinating, and I never dismiss them out-of-hand. Fascinating? I meant to say I freaking love them -- but I also find them frustrating, because mainstream science won't touch them with a fifty-foot flagpole. (Of course, that's excusable; we all know that witness testimony is notoriously fallible, and prone to exaggeration, confabulation, and other vagaries of human memory -- just ask any psychologist, or better yet, any defense attorney. And then there's all the damage that Mesmerism, Spiritualism, phrenology, and other quackery did to the fields of science, way back in the day.)
By the way...on those subsequent occasions when you say you are aware of having hallucinated...what was it that you hallucinated? (If it's not getting too personal.) ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSat, Mar 31 '12 6:14 (UTC)
Oh, there may have been external stimuli, but there wasn't overt external stimuli. The one thing I wonder is if the stimuli was a genuine baby crying in a house nearby, and the echoes carried in a way that it caused it to sound like it was in that room, and so forth. I haven't completely ruled it out - there is a logic behind it. I guess the main thing is that it doesn't seem reasonable given my own understanding of my emotional state at the time and the fact that there were others who had similar experiences in that house.
As for the other hallucinations, I've had chemical induced ones - one that I enjoyed was when my carpet in my lounge room became liquid - but I've also had sleep paralysis issues in the past. Usually it's not bad but there are the "malevolent being behind me" kind of thing a couple of times. And to relate it back to the UFO thing - I was worried that I was being anally probed during one of those once. That was definitely sleep paralysis though. I think I'd be a little more aware if I had been abducted. Nominally Humane! 06:30 31 Mar
Ooo, sleep paralysis. I've had those. Not fun. I suppose you know about the instances of sleep paralysis being described in literature, for example, the one in Moby-Dick? ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSat, Mar 31 '12 6:51 (UTC)

It's cool. I'd better let you know as well - the comment you left on MrEx's talk page was considered a personal attack by some. I'm assuming good faith and that it was said tongue in cheek, but it could have been grounds for a banning. If you do it again you probably will be banned, so try and keep your comments to others as civil as possible. Nominally Humane! 11:10 31 Mar

We're holding a small competition there and you may be interested! It's the rewrite of both those articles, as of now there's only 2 places left for the Romney team of rewriters. Or something to hang your hat on. On the NotM, with all the rule and name changes, if shemp gets five votes is her name taken off? I think we should leave the noms up there for the whole month, and let people get a look at who's winning and some of the articles written by the noobs, and not just remove their names when five (which seems low) votes are received. Brought to you by Coca-Cola. Aleister 10:43 2-4

The idea is that 5 means that the person has succeeded in becoming NotM. This means n00bs aren't competing, so it's not winning so much as being recognised. They then spend a month being well hung on the front page. It actually encourages n00bs, rather than having them being forced into jelly wrestling against their will. Although having n00bs jelly wrestle isn't a bad idea. Nominally Humane! 10:48 02 Apr
I know, but like with shemp now, she already has three four votes, and say she picks up two one more in the next minute, and her name is taken off before people get a chance to even "meet" her via the NotM nom page. I became familiar with many noobs by seeing them nominated, and then going back to read their pages. Shouldn't we leave people's nom there for awhile and not just remove them and file them away? (i.e. shemp, we hardly knew ye). Al (UTC)
I figure a month on front page does the same trick. I see your point though. Problem is I don't want to have 20+ nominations showing at the one time. Shemp will be added to the "previous winners" but maybe a "won in April" or something similar would be an alternative. We're making it up as we go along - like everything - so Shemp has the questionable fortune of being our guinea pig. On the flip side, anyone nommed last month misses out due to having taken this long to change. Also, I figured 5 was a good number, but 10 is our baseline for VFH, which is what this is roughly modelled. We might have to bump the figure up to that. And I haven't been advised that I've overstepped the mark. Given I only just did this (based on that forum) I feel I've done as much as anyone can do to gather support for changes. Let's see what happens by the 7th. Nominally Humane! 11:35 02 Apr
You will be banned for a day for doing it, and will be back in an hour. Did we vote to change the name, can't there be many noobs of the month (it sounds better). And how many noobs can dance on the head of a pin? (answer) Aleister 11:47 2-4
Actually the name change may not have been voted on directly, now I think about it. The rationale is that xyz of the month is generally just the one. And real n00bs can't dance. Nominally Humane! 12:43 02 Apr

You want penis[edit source]

It's odd when someone comes along who's just mean and probably hurt by the subject of an article. But enough about me. Aleister 2:03 6-4-'12

I'd say it was someone with a grudge against small penises, and figured we were fans of small penises, and decided to attack the site as a result. The Jew/Classic vandal is the same, but in that I can see his point, even if I don't agree. Nominally Humane! 02:18 06 Apr
It was a guy who came via the forum Al created presumably. Remember though that cool people often have bad attitudes. Artists do. Various good (currently banned) uncyc users did, BA did. I rest my case. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 02:49, Apr 6

Marty King[edit source]

Check out the front page, The Full Hilary. I'm glad we exchanged stuff on ATS, because I'd really like it if you, and I'll do some, can polish out some of the stupid on the Martin Luther King article. It's one I'm ashamed of, but the backstory is as shameful. I'd worked on the Woodinetc.'s page, but then VFD'ed it. TKF (I think) nommed it for VFH instead! It was so bad that I started into editing it, and swung the Fox News angle fully into it. But the parts about the panty raid, him puking on a coffee table, shameful. Even though it's a feature (and I have no idea why it was featured) it creates a bad impression for our site, as you saw on that ATS thread. It surprised me you had the page in mind to edit, made me smile and dance a jig. Al 1:44 7-4-'12

Thanks for the screen shots. In case you want to make another appearance the thread at ATS has heated up a little (although that's a wrong metaphor for hitting plastic coverings on a keyboard over and over again) with the appearance of what may be an ED editor trying to tear Uncyclopedia a new one (we have lots of new ones).
