I see your point

I don't know if you'll actually read this, but I happened to notice this article of yours before you "blanked" it, and I believe you have a very good point. Quite often on wiki sites, certain articles are the target of so much "vandalism" and general asshattery that the people who are in charge of preventing them from descending into cesspits of racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of hatefulness simply get tired of dealing with them. It's a form of battle fatigue, and the result is often that people manage to get away with some really heinous things for surprisingly long periods of time.

In this case, the Black People article was recently edited by someone calling himself User:Kike77. This person is clearly a racist of the worst kind (i.e., the unfunny kind), and if I were an administrator here, I would ban him immediately, and indefinitely. Unfortunately, there are many more like him out there — some of them are already users here — and you can't ban them all. Moreover, banning has little effect against a determined racist; they simply create new accounts and keep trying.

I'm going to make some much-needed changes to the article in question (and feel free to do so yourself), and hopefully this will make it more acceptable to decent, non-racist people, but as with all public wikis, there's simply no way to stop these people completely. The problem isn't just with the people, it's with the entire wiki concept. In our case, it's capable of producing some astonishingly good material, but it's also capable of producing some astonishingly horrible crap as well. It's not my place to apologize on behalf of Uncyclopedia, but for what it's worth, I'm sorry this happened. Some user 06:38, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

An hour or so later...

Yikes, what a mess that article was! I'll have to check out some more of that guy's "work" - where there's smoke there's fire, I'm sorry to say. Anyway, try it now... I left in a lot of the stuff about rap music (I'm personally more into classical these days), and of course taking out the Michael Jackson references would be utterly futile in any case, but it should be a lot better at this point. We'll just have to see how long it lasts, I guess!
