I heard you got a page you were working on deleted. To avoid this in the future, either put a construction tag on it like this {{construction}} or create the article in your userspace at User:Grad student/Articletitle. The old welcome message used to mention instructions for creating the article in userspace, but too many new users weren't bothering to read the whole thing. Chatting with other users is generally done on their talk page, though we also have IRC for realtime conversations, provided the right person is actually online (this is rare). For instance, you could ask an admin (RAHB for instance) for your page back by going to User talk:RAHB and adding a section at the bottom of the page asking for your page to be userspaced. It will then show up in your userspace, as explained above, since admins are usually good about that sort of thing, provided you ask nicely. See the Beginner's Guide for more details on our policies, and you can also click the Help link under community at the left side of the page.
