Just went to the spoon today. Found out wikia deleted it. I was really sad it happened because I so wanted to check in wtih the resident zero-to-hero and see our beloved original articles stuffed into a non-wikipedia looking space with 500 adds for other TV-wikis. Such dissapointment. While I'm bummed that great space turned into shit-dumpster is gone, I thought I'd come back to the fork to see if it was still dead. It's actually a little less than dead. Which is a pleasant surprise. I'd say at the moment it is a Zombie of a site or maybe even a Vampire slowly waking up after winter hibernation. Saw some old names flash by. Brought back fond memories and made me passionately curious just how the hell are all you douchey-shit-bags doing? Some people were stalking my user-talk page on a few other wikis last year that I dabble with and told me discord is totally the hot shit. Whats so great about it? Is it a pleasant black-midget-LGTB inclusive den of loving mutual support and non-angsty don't-give-a-shittery? We ought to update our users who moved out of their mother's basement list? And I'd imagine it wouldn't hurt to pick the best of the best of post-death uncyclopedia! I'll read all 10 newly featured articles since 2010 and nominate them all for the top 10!!! Did someone say "happy monkey"? No. Really? I swear I heard "happy monkey" a moment ago. Nothing? Seriously? That sounds I just heard. Was that a queef or someone mentioning happy monkey? Mmmm. Must have been a royal queef. Liked the McDonalds article by the way. Has someone started up an uncyclopedia snapchat? Or an uncyclopedia tinder account? I'd bet no shortage of babes would hesitate to swipe right!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ShabiDOO 18:03, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Hey Shabi! Yes, our Discord is the place to go - it's active constantly, and there are a ton of big names you'd remember well: Dr. Skullthumper, mhaille, Zombiebaron, EMC, and more. Swing by so we can catch up. AimsplodeL A B O R A T O R I E S 04:53 25 June 2019
Hey aimsploderino! Yeah I'll check it out. I'm a highly inexperienced discord nOOb. How do I get on it? ShabiDOO 16:13, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Hey Shabidoo. Just click on one of these links and you will be transported to Discord. -- The Zombiebaron 17:18, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
If those didn work, try these: [1][2], but I make absolutely no promises as I have no idea what I'm doing. Having at least tried to contribute, however, I shall now pour myself a nice glass of whiskey and... I dunno, murder people in the borderlands? Or maybe just fall off bridges. Reports vary. -— Lyrithya 23:20, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

No, no, we're not dead. This section was moved from User talk:Shabidoo

Got email from Romartus, which said, "I noticed an ex-user Shabidoo looked for the Spoon and saw that it was closed. He created a forum on the Fork to announce this."

Calling you "an ex-user" rather than just "Shabidoo" seemed kind of rude, but whatever, this seemed like a case where communication might be called for -- to wit:

The reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated.

Wikia is claiming we just vaporized and disappeared into the aether, like gosh, it's gone, how weird!, but it's not true. We found a lifeboat when the boat sank, and so we still exist. We're at uncyclopedia.ca (and I'm carefully avoiding sticking an offsite link in there, eh? Aren't I thoughtful?). Snarglefoop (talk) 14:08, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Hey duderino! What's shaking? I am an ex-user on the spoon...cause I quit the site when I realised that the "zero-to-hero" admin had simply surpassed me in writing genius and mentorship and created an enviroment that was simply too inviting, fun and productive for me to handle. So either he meant that or maybe he had too many tampons stuck up his mangina. So whats the deal with keeping the spoon going rather than merging with the fork? ShabiDOO 16:11, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Sad to say there was some bad stuff that happened in the past (as I assume you know), and actually reconciling the communities is not one of the images which showed up in the crystal ball. Realistically, it was find a new home or disband the ex-Wikia team; a genuine "spork-merge" was not going to happen.
We came within a few millimeters of landing on your server, but balls got dropped (I will not point fingers (in any direction)) and it didn't march. And in the mean time Llwy-ar-lawr, who occasionally shows signs of being a little obsessive about some stuff, went to work to pull all the content from the Wikia site before it imploded (that included all deleted content clear back to the Beginning of the Universe except that Wikia had lost some deleted pages from, like, 2010 so those, at least, didn't come over) and then all that content had to go somewhere, right?
And FWIW I've been providing tech support (mostly in the form of occasionally correct advice) and running backups and that kind of boring stuff.
And there was also a hope that we might attract Spike back. Spike (yes, even Spike) had gotten completely fed up with Wikia and stormed off, and, while I realize Spike and some-collection-of-users don't get along very well (and TBH Spike still scares me, but maybe I'm just timid), he's made really substantial contributions in the past and we hoped he could do that in the future.
Anyway after a half dozen or so database dumps and restores and a memorable month during which I totally blew my data cap with my ISP transfering stuff back and forth, the site finally came to rest on a physical server which is remarkably like the one you guys are on, save that it's in Canada rather than France. (Same hosting company, tho -- they're international.) (Oh, yeah, and it's Centos rather than Ubuntu, because we're masochists.)
And that doesn't really answer your question, but whatever. If you've never read The Mother Hive by Rudyard Kipling I recommend it highly. I was reminded of the ending of that when uncyclopedia.ca finally went live. (And I'm sorry this sounds so serious and stuff but too many late nights back to back working on a project will do that.) -- Snarglefoop (talk) 17:04, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Indeed the Spoon continues, though we are currently in an edit conflict with the Fork at Wikipedia on this issue. The Fork still looks like a chat channel with a wiki attached. I expect you will try and change this Shabidoo--Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 18:19, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi, Romartus, Snarglefoop, could you please stop lying? This is getting so tedious - first you ask for our help, then you don't respond when we try to follow up and then later try to blame it on us saying we were the ones who didn't respond or do anything after we'd already put in weeks of work, gotten nearly everything set up, and specifically asked for feedback and confirmation the basics were correct, and then it turns out the entire thing was apparently some sort of stalling tactic to buy more time to bring up another site that nobody even voted for?! At any point have you been honest with me or anyone about what has happened here? Even on Wikipedia the only one who'd been edit conflicting basically everyone (and almost nobody actually from this site, I might add, mostly just a few random wikipedians who made the mistake of wandering in) was carlb, last I checked. Stop it. Please. Stop lying. -— Lyrithya 23:13, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
And don't try to bring users like Shabidoo into it. He's cool. He just writes crap and encourages people. You used to be cool, too. What happened? -— Lyrithya 23:15, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm totally appalled at your accusation and your misrepresentation of what happened. The accusation of "lying" leveled at me is ... I dunno, I'm reminded of the technique used by a politician who's currently active in American politics, about whom they say "If you want to know what he's done, look at what he accuses others of doing". Perhaps you just want to cut off discussion and have the last word. If so, you've succeeded -- even reading the rest of your bizarre twisted view of the situation is not worth my time. -- Snarglefoop (talk) 23:38, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi Snarglefoop, good to see you. I was personally involved in the communication during Uncyc Wikia's closing, and I received no response to the overwhelming majority of emails sent to Romartus asking about what your team was doing. The responses I did get were vague and follow-ups requesting more detail were ignored as well. Only after the ordeal was over did we discover that Llwy's .ca was set up from the very beginning, and that your admins had no intention on moving to our hosting, contrary to what you repeatedly claimed in public and assured us in private. You and your fellow Wikia admins worked tirelessly to deceive us and stall for time so that you could receive the .org domain from Wikia and jump ship on the whole plan right as the Wikia site was getting shut down. Thanks in part to your (and now Carlb's) own doing, that didn't happen, and so you surreptitiously set up an 11th-hour forum on which users could sign up to be privately notified of the new URL - all the while you desperately petitioned Sannse for the domain before they pulled the plug. Afterwards, your fellow admin Nigel Scribbler was then globally banned from Wikia for spamming the link to your new site.
And that's just the half of it, not even including how your admins vandalized the Wikipedia article so much that it got full protection, and continued to whitewash numerous other sites with your new domain. Instead of handling this entire issue professionally, after the move was over, your first line of defense was to accuse Lyrithya of botching the entire thing, despite her having the site fully set up and awaiting your feedback for weeks while we continued to get no response to our communication. Naturally, instead of responding to all the details in her messages here, you played the part of the petulant child and called her a liar instead. A class act from a classy group of people. AimsplodeL A B O R A T O R I E S 01:13 26 June 2019

@Shabidoo: What happened was the Wikia uncyclopedia held a few votes, and in the final one voted to move to a separate site on the same server as this one. So I and a couple others spent a few weeks setting it up, got about 90% done, and came back and asked for feedback etc. We got basically no response. A month later it turns out three or four of the Wikia uncyclopedia admins, including the two individuals above, had unilaterally decided to just ignore the vote and set up a new site themselves, or something, and never thought to, oh, I dunno, tell us, because even at that point we were still working on some of it at lowered priority. So effectively we wasted a few weeks of our lives on something that there was a very good chance that the 'people in charge' had no intention of heeding even from the start, despite them being the ones who actually gave us the initial go-ahead, (at best they completely neglected to consider telling us at whatever point they did decide it so we wouldn't waste anything further on it)... and then they had the audacity to blame this on us. Saying we were the ones who didn't get back to them, didn't follow through, etc.

So yeah. If it seems like I'm angry, it's because I am. This is practically fraud, except if anything it's worse - it's not just that they contracted something and then decided not to accept the deliverables (or even mention to us at any point that they no longer wanted them , instead trying to hide it for as long as possible), this was something we were doing for free. We were donating our time and effort in good faith to try to help out, putting everything that had happened in the past between our versions of the project in the past... and then they basically just spat in our faces, and now continue to do so by completely misrepresenting what happened, slandering me and my team and insisting their new fork is the real Uncyclopedia.

The only upside to this is that since it did take them so long to release their new site, most of their remaining actual users had already come here by the time they'd announced that, so I guess we get an amusing sitenotice out of it. -— Lyrithya 23:32, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

'insisting their new fork is the real Uncyclopedia.' We don't claim that. Uncyclopedia.ca has the content that was on the Wikia site from before January 2013 and eveything since that date until the Wikia site was closed. The Fork has hardly anything from the Wikia site since 2013 except those articles that were imported over by a writer who wanted to share their content. The Spoon never objected to the Fork existing and indeed that is why we allowed users on Wikia-hosted uncyclopedia to post a link on their user page to tell other people where they could be found. I don't see why the world isn't big enough for two Uncyclopedias. This is like Christians insisting that their church is the true one and everyone else is in 'error' or are schismatics/heretics. Now that both sites are independent, they should attempt to be the best in their respective fields. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 10:42, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
In answer to this accusation from Aimsplode 'not even including how your admins vandalized the Wikipedia article'. I was accused on Wikipedia under my user name of Gepid by two sock accounts created specifically to attack me on that alleged point. One was taken to arbitration, rejected and that sock account was banned. The Uncyclopedia article on Wikipedia now makes no sense as it talks about the Wikia Uncyclopedia being a 'mirror' of this one which is obviously untrue and has completely erased the Greggs 'alternative' logo issue from 2014 that gave Uncyclopedia (Wikia) international coverage. Wikipedia asked us to sort the Uncyclopedia article out. Looks like we are making no progress on that point here. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 10:50, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Romartus on Uncyclopedias

That is possibly the most grandiose analogy in history, given that the total number of active users on both sites could fit into a bus. And I don't mean a double-decker, I mean one of those crates that Boris paints.

In Madrid we have these spectacular battery powered mini-busses. I think it can sit 5 people and there is standing room for a dozen or so. Would that kind of bus reach capacity? I got dibs on a seat!
BTW nice to see you're still writing Leverage! ShabiDOO 16:38, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Clearly we gotta rent one, kidnap everyone, and have an editathon. Even if all the articles are just incriminating reports or please for mercy, we should get at least something funny out of these people, right? We're funny around here. Right? -— Lyrithya 23:21, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Well

If Lyrithya is pissed off then definitely something fishy is going off. A few comments

  • Snarglefoop: Eventually at some point it becomes too painful to watch new writers being trashed (writing and ideas) and driven away as well as watching every single user blocked for sometimes valid reasons (myself included) but usually ludicrous and vindictive reasons. As long as Mr. Zero-to-hero is there, I'm sorry duderino, I cannot lend my free time to the place. Maybe you'll be better suited to containing his excesses than others have. Good luck!
  • Lyrithya: I'm glad you're dedicating thankless time to at least attempting to unite the groups. I hope you're still finding time to keep your writing up inbetween coding!!!
  • Aimsplode: Thanks for moving this to the forum. My talkpage hasn't seen this much action since puberty!!!
  • Zombiebaron: Those links don't work. says invitation is expired/invalid. Could you send a personalised one or something like that please? Also...I heard some pretty helarious and disturbing things about you on another wiki. Was so weird I was fairly certain it couldn't have been you! You have a doppelganger freaking the internet out!
  • Romartus: Two of my featured articles were deleted from the spoon. That is hilarious. I couldn't think of a funnier way to validate my clearly unfounded concerns. Oh we do have some laughs don't we?

@Shabi. Which of your featured articles were deleted from the Spoon? Just wonder if they were lost in the data transfer. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:18, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

For the record

  • Llwy set up her mirror very early on, and was going to do so whether we moved there or not.
  • Snarglefoop helped Llwy set up the mirror once it was clear nobody could get into the site hosted by Uncyclomedia.
  • Spike was never going to contribute to a site hosted by Uncyclomedia, not was Llwy. The rest of us, to my knowledge, would have been fine with it.
  • Wikia has STILL not transferred the domain, nor was it clear whether they ever really intended to.
  • CarlB claims he filed the suit (that Wikia is now using as an excuse not to transfer the domain) to light a fire under Wikia to transfer the domain.
  • Aimsplode sent some emails to Romartus, to which Romartus never responded.

Well

How's all of you doing these days? 't Is been a while. Somehow I got to this page and I must admit I am quite surprised, to say the least, that the wikia is dead. I used to be the dictator at the Dutch Uncyclopedia, 'Oncyclopedia', but with me reading there are now two Uncyclopedias (or more, who knows)... why? I am retired, but still, Oncyclopedia is the place I spent about 7 years of my life on, so yeah, I can imagine Uncyclopedia is everyone's little baby, in a way. I knew about the layout issue, but now it's gone after all, after one of my fellow admins started a form called 'No more Wikia', so reading that now is kind of ... well, again, surprising. Anyhow: this as such isn't an issue for re-arranging our Interwiki links, aside from those other Wikia sites that closed, such as the Spanish one, which seems to also have moved to these servers. Once .co got to life, we moved all our links to .co, but now there suddenly is .ca and a .org redirecting to the dead wikia site. What's going to happen with that? Any idea?
