- Egalitarianism is related to socialism in that some may be deluded into thinking socialism will realize the egalitarian ideal. However, as socialism usually implies giving more power to the government, and politicians that come to power usually do this through lies and deceit, not to mention that power corrupts, it's bound to create a huge inequality between government officials and the plebs. In the end, the government will do pretty much whatever it sees fit and the commoners won't even notice when their rights are being violated. The only stabilizing factor in all this is the existence of an international community, which forces governments to appear benevolent and democratic. This only slows down the process, though. A real egalitarian society, in as much as it is even possible or desirable to achieve one, can only be achieved through direct democracy. Also, isn't being labelled as "having Asperger's" inherently unegalitarian to begin with? 12:52, 5 April 2011
