History[edit | edit source]
WNBT Early Days[edit | edit source]
The station signed on at channel 4 as WNBT. WNBT was an NBC station from the very beginning, broadcasting stuff such as Unboxing Videos and the first documented footage of channel 4 in New York City. Wait, what's that? Most of this is lost media? Anyways, in either 1940 or 1947, WNBC began it's first newscast, under the name: 4UNews. During this time, WNBT briefly for one hour became WRCA, before becoming WNBC in 1959.
60s, 70s and 80s[edit | edit source]
For pretty much all of New York City's MM History, WNBC has been beating out WCBS. This is because Comcast paid this writer to say so. Anyways, this is when Star Trek became popular. Due to NBC holding the rights for Star Trek, It was broadcast on WNBC ever since 1972, becoming one of the network's longest-running shows. In the 80s, however. Upon Fox TV's debut, WNBC began to slow down.
90s and First Digital Signal[edit | edit source]
Once UPN and The WB showed up, things became more cluttered, forcing NBC to ask other affiliates for ideas for programming. This led to many more unique shows being produced, and resulting in success. In 1995, WNBC began it's first Digital Signal, broadcasting in HD for the first time. No one cared until they put out a new Orc Language Subchannel, GOT (Grand Orc's Television) in SD on 1999. The Orcush community of New York expressed joy, had we had an on-hand translator. They also around this time put up relay stations WNBT (Channel 49) in Milan and WRCA (Channel 51) out of Yanny.
2000s[edit | edit source]
Nothing relevant really happened during the 2000s except for the Helicopter incidents and the Digital Transition.
2010s & Today[edit | edit source]
The station finally upgraded everything into widescreen by 2010 (Even the employees and coffee mugs), and Subchannels began showing up.
Subchannel History[edit | edit source]
DT3 and DT4 first popped up around 2011, airing test cards. Later that year, New York Nonstop (Independent) and Lx (We have no idea what this is) began broadcasting. DT2 upgraded into HD at the beginning of 2013.
DT5-8 signed on in 2015 airing infomercials. DT5 was briefly occupied by Animan TV (We don’t talk about this one) from February 8-17 before becoming GoAnimate TV (Poorly made animations). DT6 became a Cozi TV channel by June, airing classic tv and people sleeping. DT5 finally became Dice TV by November 16, providing the best in Dungeons and Dragons content for the Tri States.By that same day, DT7 began airing NBC Sports, airing you guessed it, Sports.
DT9-11 finally opened up by 2017. The Sci Fi Channel (You know where this is going) signed on at DT8 at December 2017, moving down to DT9 by January to slide in Sprout-I mean Universal Kids, airing kids content. DT10 became occupied by NBC Crime, renamed to Nitrogen by 2020. In 2021 Today TV on DT11 showed up, leading to the line-up people might know. In 2023, The Sci Fi Channel got converted into Trekkie TV.

Digital Transition[edit | edit source]
WNBC and it’s relay stations signed off their analog signal at June 13 as was legally mandated, WNBC and WRCA moved to channel 44 meanwhile WNBT moved to channel 40, since WRCA is too far away to cause interference with WNBC, something WNBT could do.
Semi-Relay stations[edit | edit source]
Both stations air local newscasts because they want to look cool and "local".
- WNBT, Poopskopsii New York
- WRCA, Yanny, New York
