Welcome!

Hello, Silent Penguin, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... yeah. Anyway, here are a few good links for people like you:

If you read anything at all, make it the above three links. If you want to find out more about Uncyclopedia or need more help with something, try these:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig.png) above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Silent Penguin/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply put {{adoptme}} on your Userpage to join. Again, welcome!  --Hindleyite | PL | CUN | Converse 15:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Blanking

Splaka, Dont Revert this page, i dont need it any more, it was a waste of yours and my time.--Silent Penguin 12:17, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Blanking your own talk page can actually be considered offensive on a wiki, if you do not indicate you've received the messages stated therein or wait an appropriate timeperiod before doing so (like, more than two days). It is more proper (although not required) to archive the messages there (for example at User talk:Silent Penguin/Archive1). A user's talk page is actually a tool of the community, so while you may not need 'it' anymore, others may. Please think of the impression you wish to convey. Also see Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Talk_page#User_talk_pages. Although we do not stricty follow their policy, we use them as guidelines prior to the development of our own. --Splaka 05:29, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
yes, but its a message that everyone gets when they join uncyclopedea so me leaving my welcome message is not helping anyone, i wouldnt think of blanking the talk page if it had replys on it but thats a standard message everyone nows and can see again under templates, iv got other stuff on mine now, and i notice that you dont have yours still, also it is a message that doent really expect a reply.--Silent Penguin 08:41, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
The welcome template was created 27 March 2006, I've been editing here since 19 August 2005 long before the policy came in to effect. Although archiving it might not be that useful, leaving it up for more than two days is, preventing a greeter accidentally giving you a second one, or an admin assuming bad faith. Just FYI. --Splaka 04:21, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
sorry,i thought it was a automatic posting like loads of other places do,how long would you suggest leaving it for? its been there three weeks now--Silent Penguin 11:08, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Not Starving

Greetz Penguin! Good job with the photo edits on the page, they add that missing edge of humor... alas, I'm a writer and my photo inspiration does not come so readily, so I depend on users like yourself to figure out the best pictures to edit my work.

I do have one request, however... Your user page makes it sound like the article was mostly yours, could I request that you re-word the phrasing there? The majority of the words were mine. I'll simply accept the removal of the copious profanity as "mainstreaming" the article, and I readily acknowledge that the images enhance the project far beyond my drab appearance after I was done with the draft.

Thanks, and I hope you're enjoying the site... TD Complain here MUN (Insert Funny Quote Here) 02:31, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

sorry, it felt like a lot at the time, i did make it alot more presentable than it was saving it form the depths of the ugly tag. im glad your pleased with what iv dont to it. i also notciced you looked at Underwear, feel free to make the other types of underwear if you want. might i also suggest that not starving could be moved to HowTo:Not Starve making it a HowTo page--Silent Penguin 11:00, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Incredible!

You know, it was just yesterday that I had the idea of doing an article about Teletext on Uncyc. We must be psychic or something... it seems you beat me to it, though. I think the concept for UnTeletext is great. Probably better than my idea, which was to map out a Zork-style navigation menu thingy, with numbered links and things. Just something to think about. :) --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Reefer Desk - Use it | Converse 17:54, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

its nice to know that my stuff gets noticed, thanks, it may be possible with a lot of effort to make it interative, i was going to stick links to the bottom to weather forecasts and stuff and adverts so one of the links could be a zork themed page and so on.--Silent PenguinPenguin_foot.JPG 18:10, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi again. I have been working on the interactive UnTeletext interface I talked about that makes it very easy to create new pages using the same theme. Development is ongoing, but I'd love know what you think. Perhaps we can incorporate the two versions somehow? --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Reefer Desk - Use it | Converse 13:51, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Whoops, forgot to give a link. It's User:Hindleyite/Teletext. --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Reefer Desk - Use it | Converse 13:53, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Pretty much done now: just the links to add. I need to find out how to do them without the text turning blue. I hope you don't mind that I shamelessly pinched your animated GIF idea. Anyway, if you don't like it you don't have to use it - User:Hindleyite/Teletext. --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Reefer Desk - Use it | Converse 15:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi again, Penguin. I've been tinkering with the UnTeletext format in some of the pages you created in your userspace and I think I have resolved some of the formatting problems. Let me know what you think and if you consider it good enough to move to the actual UnTeletext page. Then, we can start creating some sub-pages, and the project will begin to take shape. --Hindleyite | PL | GUN | WOTM | Reefer Desk - Use it | Converse 14:25, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Template:DYK2

You can use it with {{DYK2|description}}, it's a much cleaner way to do the Did you know? templates. --Icons-flag-us.png SonicChao Babbel!Contribs 13:31, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
