Welcome to the Uncyclopedia! | |
Oh, hello, Redradishthesecond, nice that you decided to make an account into... umm... there, this place...
Umm... Anyways, we're proud of you for making such a wise decicion. We are (and we're going to be) also thankful because of your contributions, but in any case, please read the text below so you won't end up too quickly.
When you are in conversation with other Hungry Spirits of Uncyclopedia, please remember to At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Redradishthesecond/Article about stuff) so you may edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done slap a construction template - {{construction}} - onto it as well. Well, of course, we here at Uncyclopedia have lots of action and games, so you wouldn't get bored. Often articles will require proofreading, among other fix ups, and we could always use more reviewers, and for the more artistic of folks, there's the option of creating images to aid articles that need more images and making them prettier, for instance. Uncyclopedia also sometimes has big competitions, like PLS and others. If you're still feeling uneasy, come out of the closet and ask from me, admins, IRC, Village Dump or then go and ask from Lyrithya. She knows everything. Really. And don't forget that you can be always adopted in Adopt-a-Noob program, the best adoption program in the world. So, again, welcome! 15:20, 8 August, 2012 (UTC) |
Help me out here[edit source]
Can anyone Help me propagate the Tree Man and Anal arboreum pages. I just need some orginizational work done that I don't know how to do. They sort of interlock with one another informationally and it is recomended not to change any information.Redradishthesecond (talk) 15:51, August 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure what you asking here. This isn't a site to propagate your own meme and all articles can be edited unless featured. This is a collaborative website so no user can own an article here. Right now, you have two incomplete pages that will need work done. Starting off an article in mainspace is fine but if you don't finish it to completion in 7 days, it will be deleted. Alternatively, they can have placed on your own pages to work on them further. Let me know. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 17:44, August 8, 2012 (UTC)
What I wanted to know is how to add a page to a catagory(ie. add anal arboreum to the diseases catagory and possibly tree man to the celebreties catagory or a similar catagory since a real circus performer goes by the name). I would do this myself but i couldn't find it in the editing tutorial. The reason anal arboreum sounds so much like a meme is because I didn't think anyone would look up its real world counter part (Epidermodysplasia verruciformis which is the disease that the real tree man has). Sorry for the confusion but when I heard of Tree Man on NatGeo I just thought of a guy with a tree growing from his rear.PS is there any way I can make it sound less like a meme? Now that you mention it, it bothers me.Redradishthesecond (talk) 08:36, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
- This is how you add a category, but as Romartus said this probably needs a bit more work before you try and propagate it too far. I'd userspace both of these at the moment, and work on one at a time. Anal arboreum is probably the first one I'd work on, as it tunes into the parental tale of if you swallow pips you'll have an apple tree growing in your stomach or similarly stupid statements. Try and work on ways that it can be more accessible as a topic to people who have no idea about what you are talking about. The more relate-able your humour is, the funnier it is. - Sometimes what starts out as a good idea doesn't always translate into a workable article. Nearly every regular contributor here have articles that are 'works in progress' (WIPs)on their user sub pages. Some will make it, others will linger and a sad few will go the way of the Dodo. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 09:15, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

A sub-header[edit source]
I'm thinking about putting an immage on the anal arboreum page. The immage would be of a guy with a tree branch stuck between his buttocks(The guy would be fully clothed and have his face cencored or angled out of the shot as to make the immage apropriate) Since I have to take the picture myself, I would like to know what kind of licensing to put it under. Just in case an immage like the one I described already exists and is copyrighted, should I put this one under Parody?Redradishthesecond (talk) 09:59, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
- If you have to use a copyright image, than Copyright violation protected under parody would be where I'd go. If you manipulate images yourself than Image edited by me (possible copyright sources) is what I go for. In both cases I try and link to the original image online in the summary. It's not essential, but if someone wants to tweak it later it's nice having sources. If the image comes from another site that has a similar licence (CC-BY-NC, fair use, GNU, public domain) againI'd link to the original and make the licence as close as possible. There is also UN:PIC available if you have an image concept but can neither find or create it yourself. Nominally Humane! 10:11 09 Aug
Moved[edit source]
Your articles are now at these two locations as would have been otherwise deleted.

- Thanks thats actualy pretty helpful but how do I bring them out of userspace when they're done. Also is there a way that i could get them looked at by "profesionals" to get it aproved before I do so.Redradishthesecond (talk) 07:36, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Once completed, there is a move button on the top menu to put them back in the main space. You are best advised to concentrate on one of them to make it read like a real article (even if it is total nonsense). Also look at other contributors' work on VFH. It will give you a 'flavour' of the type of articles that get noticed. My own view is that if you don't get inspired in an article, either start another one or look around and see if there are works here that need more work. Check on the history of a page too to see who has been working on it. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 08:18, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
