A favor[edit source]

Hey. Can I ask for a favor? See, an article I wrote, Magrathea, apparently sucks by Pee Review standards. Could you check it out, give me your honest opinion, and maybe roll a steamroller over a couple sections and rewrite them? The steamroller template's already there but I don't think anybody'll start on it in a while, and I've decided to not edit it in a while (since it was by my own actions that it got this way) so it would really mean a lot if I could leave the article under your care. You don't need to know about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in fact, one of the weak points of the article was overcentralization on H2G2. So what do you say? Can I leave the article under your care? --R. Daneel Olivaw (Gaia - Foundation) 00:19, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, I don't know about under my care absolutely, but I can go over there, fix everything I can, and resubmit it for review. If I get the article enough, I'll consider watchlisting it. Barcode711 15:41, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually....man, I don't know what I'd have to do to fix that article. I was lucky I had so much to work with in the Carmine article (it was really bloated, I just trimmed it well), and with the Gears of War article, I'm just really knowlegable in the subject. HitchHiker's Guide....I read up to the part where they got into the random teleport, or when the main character was wondering what eddies in the space current were, or when they went to watch that croquet game until I realized just how unfunny that multi-hundred-page novel series was. I really can't help you, man...I have two articles to work on already. Sorry. Barcode711 16:02, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks anyway. I guess I'll just leave it as is until somebody finally applies the stemroller... I'm out of that article for good. --R. Daneel Olivaw (Gaia - Foundation) 19:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

A not-so-favor-ish-like thing[edit source]

Hey, man, I just started this "article" (it's in my user namespace, not in the regular namespace, so it doesn't get huffed before its egg hatches) and I was wondering whether you'd like to make a couple edits to it (you know, add some funny stuff when you've got nothing better to do). I'm feeling particularly optimistic-ish about this article since I figure it's got a nice, spoofable concept. It's called Taxi Driver. And if you're gonna just say "why not merge it into taxi?" I'll just go ahead and give you the answer: I don't think it would fit particularly well in the taxi article (check it out yourself) and the contents of both articles would make an irrecognizable hodgepodge. So, if you ever feel like editing it or come up with anything, just drop off your idea onto the article. I'm editing it regular-ish-ly so don't get the idea that I just abandoned an article on my user namespace (lol that would be pretty idiotic). Thanks if you ever get bored enough to edit it, --R. Images[edit source]

Here you go: Template:AAP --R. Daneel Olivaw (Gaia - Foundation) 23:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

...but just to let you know, I doubt you'll get any pictures anytime soon, if you look at backup in the category. If you want to request pictures, use UN:PIC.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 23:05 Sep 24, 2007
Okay, I'll request there too. Thanks, man. Barcode711 15:32, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

YOU MAY![edit source]

Heya, :)

Apologies for the hiccup earlier, I just realised when I initially posted this that my Little Brother had forgotton to Log Out, so it is mainly my fault for not being vigilant, but that's for another time, now is the time for Apocalypse!

Well, as soon as I opened the box my heart skipped a beat, "surely I don't get that much stuff for £60?" But you do, and wow was it a worthwhile purchase. The bag is brilliant, and I'll never use it for school or other activities, but the plethora of big pouches and nifty storage space would prove vital for carrying Codex's, Rule Books, Army Lists, Gaming Supplies etc... Let me say that the Apocalypse Templates are flippin' huge! The massive 10" Plate is as big as a Dinner plate, and already I'm fantasising about all of the Imperial Maggots I got blast apart with it! :P I haven't read up about the templates, but I believe the massive Flamer template is called a "Hellstorm" template and could easily cut a swathe through Infantry. The big gun dice are what they say, dice for big guns, but lets not ponder that, lets get onto the rulebook itself!

Now, please remember that I only just got this so please be patient and allow my slow mind to catch it's pace with such a huge book. :P It is huge, 200 pages long with fold out pages dotted here and there. The artwork is topnotch as is the photography work, diagrams and examples are clear and easy to read. The big things for Apocalypse like the Baneblade are not called "Super Heavies" but instead are called "Legendary units" or "Legendary formations." Each race has a good mix of Legendary units and formations, and yes the Imperials have access to a bloody Warlord Titan!? :sadnshocked:

That's right, a Warlord, a legal set of Warlord rules which allows you to field one in games of Apocalypse, insane or what? I will not go into detail about every races Legendary units and formations, I haven't read the book properly enough to warrant that! Every race has some truly bad-D'yi units and formations and nobody need not worry that they will miss out, you can't, it's physically impossible!

The emphasis on "Fun & Friendly" gaming is strong throughout the book, which is most certainly not a bad thing as games of Apocalypse are just fun and not Tactical slug-fests. If you take 40k too seriously or if you are a strategy lover then stay away! Apocalypse is just pure insane! The book also explains the logistical and planning difficulties of organising an Apocalypse game and how they are special and not designed for pickup battles. Hobby articles are sparse, but this book focuses more on playing Apocalypse rather than making terrain, although there are some truly innovative pieces of terrain and units that make you want to scream.

On another note, Legendary units, Legendary formations and strategic assets are only applicable in games of Apocalypse, so don't expect little Timmy to take a Vortex grenade in a regular 1500pts game or a Banblade. It would simply be illegal and not applicable in a regular game of 40k.

I am sorry folks but that is all for now, I wish I could go further but I've only just flicked through the new book, but there will be more to come. ;)

Any questions are welcome, but please remember that I cannot post or give you stats or points costs. Cheers, Yeah, I read your user-name policy and it's GayJorgen.gif 07:53, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

"We've got to regain knowledge again, and we've got to regain an understanding again, of who we are. Not just those chosen to fuel systems, but individuals who have the power to criticize and analyze, and attack injustice when it becomes prevalent and apparent in front of our faces like it is in ours right now. We've been all put to sleep. Put to sleep to a system. A system that continues to perpetrate ignorance amongst our spirits and amongst our minds. One that wants you not to act. A system that would rather see all of you at that bar drinking beer filling your minds being put to sleep with beer or with drugs, rather than acting against it and fighting a system which has been perpetrating imperialist lies and other f***ing bulls*** for five hundred years." - Zack de la Rocha

Uh....if this is turning into one of those "looks like randumb but is actually some kind of joke or reference" series of messages, no thanks, man. Don't have the time to figure them out anyway.

Least not today. Barcode711 16:18, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
