HELLO, EVERYBODY! I'm here to tell you about something that you can do with the lovely game besides play it (or play with the toys); by that, I mean draw its characters and items with colored pencils and graph paper!! It's a very simple process which is dependent upon the item being drawn and the colors. Especially the colors. Within the complete reading of this tutorial, you too can show off some decently professional and authentic art to everybody! Spread the word!!

Well, let's get on with this!

Choosing a Subject[edit | edit source]

As I once heard, you gotta start small and work your way up. I learned that the hard way. With an astonishing amount of items, the possibilities are endless. Sometimes, the time it takes to choose a subject can take longer than drawing it. Here are some examples of some small things which aren't too difficult.

Go![edit | edit source]

It is strongly recommended that you have a computer that has MS Paint in order to go on with the rest of the process.
After finding out what you want to draw, find an image of the original sprite. Copy it and paste it in Paint. Before you start, take a couple seconds to examine it closely in order to get an idea on what colors you'll need for the process and how much space it will occupy on the paper. Don't forget to activate gridlines- it helps a lot, which is why MS Paint is so important when it comes to our subject manner.

The Basics[edit | edit source]

Start with the outline of the entity or focus on all sections that focus on a specific color. If you do this, you won't have to worry about it later. This part may be tricky, which means that the eyedrop tool will be your best friend for this activity. Keep on filling spots until the drawing resembles the product in Paint. Alternatively, you can place your drawing on a wall and walk away to ensure that the image resembles its counterpart.

Other Tips[edit | edit source]

Boris jumping.png

When you're drawing characters with the hair of Boris, it's impossible and takes a while. When I worked on those projects, I started from the legs and worked my way up. The shirts are the hardest part when it comes to drawing figures like him because, once again, the colors. Instead, do the opposite! It's faster and takes a lot of stress out of making the image.

Oh yes. Be sure to bring a black colored pencil with you when enagaing in this process because a lot of images demand them.

Build sculptures of the characters and items in Garry's Mod!![edit | edit source]

It is highly recommended that you have the Minecraft SWEP before going on with this process.
If you don't want to risk using graph paper or getting the colored pencils (because sometimes it can be irritating), go to gMod and find a nice open space to start your creation. Follow the steps as you would draw the entities, with the exception of changing the color of your blocks to correspond to the image on Paint. Use the eyedrop tool, activate gridlines, blah, blah, blah... Repeat the process until you're finished. It's better to do these items here because you'll warrant a better picture, and you'll do less work!

Viewer disclaimer: Depending on the computer, the areas where these projects are set are subject to moderate or severe slowdown in game speed. But hey, you made something awesome with little effort!

What can be done after I'm finished?[edit | edit source]

After you're done drawing your item, show it to a friend or loved one. Maybe get them into this fine activity as well. If you choose to do so, send your picture to Budsies. It's a website where you can send all sorts of pictures and have them be made into plushies. Alternatively, you could get the image of the entity that you want to make, send it there and get your plush- making this process utterly pointless. Even though, you managed to kill off some time and have some fun.

Where to get inspriration[edit | edit source]

- The information is spotty at best, so it's only good for the images. Then again, it's hosted on Wikia...
