User:Purple Petals/Mezzo-Soprano
The mezzo-soprano voice is the middle female voice and the most common of the female singing voices. Their ranges lie from F3-F5. These female voices are placed between the increasingly high-lying songbird soprano voices and the low, dark-hued, heavy, and cringy contralto voices. These women aren't just lazy sopranos, they are famed for their lower tessitura while having more resonance in their lower registers. That's what distincts a mezzo from any soprano.

The Instrument[edit | edit source]
When you listen to mezzos, you think about the vocal instrument they possess through their singing voice. Like the viola, which possesses a deeper and darker sound than the violin, is a great example of how a mezzos instrument compares to a soprano. In choir, a mezzo would take place as an alto. Due to their rich voices, mezzos often play the roles of dancing little boys, badass queens, and evil witches. However, during rare occasions, they can also play the leading lady, or take over the light fairy winged sopranos spotlight, not being afraid to let their deep, dark, husky, and powerful voices shine.
