Knight, shown here in 2008, got tired of coaching basketball and took up being a humanitarian instead.

Bobby Knight is a renowned college basketball coach, fanatic, and world-champion chair-thrower who has gained respect in many ways, from his fiery nature on the field to his loving nature off it.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Knight was born in Massilon, Ohio, the self-pronounced "Sportstown USA," five miles away from Massilon Washington High School, home of the Tigers. His early life, despite being very rich, was quite unsuccesful due to his various anger issues. In kindergarten through eighth, his habits of throwing his chair whenever he couldn't work out a question made the teacher force him to stand during class, and he spent so much time bickering about this that he barely ever got any work done, and thus, instead of going to Masillon Washington High, the school of his dreams, he went to a much smaller local high school.

High school days[edit | edit source]

In high school, life became even more miserable for the disgruntled Knight. He was always angry, and also bullied by fellow students. His drunken father urged him to join the basketball team, to get him exercise and respect from fellow students. Reluctantly following his father's plea, he tried out for the basketball team and made it on.

He was the 12th man.
