- Runescape is a goddamn ripoff of War of Warcraft, except with goblins and cheap graphics and references to Monty Python.
History and Development[edit | edit source]
Runescape was developed by a former WoW fan who got kicked out due to constantly annoying the game mods. Before he got banned, he vowed that he would gain his revenge and vanquish the ones who made him suffer (note that he also ripped off multiple fantasy franchises). And so, he created Runescape.
Currently, Runescape is run by Jagex, who staged a hostile takeover on the game (you didn't know? See, Jagex has corrupted you.) and changing the game completely, turning it from a simple 3D graphics fantasy game to one heck of a MMORPG infested with noobs and trolls.
Servers[edit | edit source]
Runescape has servers for 60 countries, including Norway, China, Denmark, Canada, Argentina, Australia, America, and Oceania.
Jagex has announced that they would also add servers for Brazil, Dubai, and Tatooine.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Tutorial[edit | edit source]
All news players will find themselves on a empty island and have to do pointless tasks to learn about the game instead of simply reading the manual.
Skills[edit | edit source]
Through the game, players gain experience and increase their combat level by earning skill points. There are 30 types of skills in Runescape, including:
- Defense
- Attack
- Firemaking
- Smelting
- Crafting
- Woodcutting
- Magic
- Prayer
- Mining
- Fishing
- Cooking
- Runecrafting
- Pickpocketing
- Carjacking
- Lovemaking
- Bribing
- Flying
- Swimming
- Dancing
- Pwnage
Combat[edit | edit source]
Runescape has a highly advanced combat system developed in the duration of three months. Players can kill NPC's using three types of combat: Melee, Magic, and Ranged.
There are around 600 usable weapons in Runescape, some gained in quest, and most of them in shops.
Quests[edit | edit source]
Players take part in quests to earn rewards, skill points, weapons, and quest points, which can benefit in the future. Players on Members servers have access to unlimited quests, while non-members have access to only a stinkin' two.
Community[edit | edit source]
Jagex has stated a mission statement that Runescape is created so people can get along and encourages teamwork and friendship.
The Runescape site has a special forum so all players can express their opinions about Runescape (Member access only).
Membership[edit | edit source]
Despite the fact that Runescape is a "free" game, Jagex has set up a membership option so that 96% of the game features are disabled, including most skills, quests, and the login screen, unless users pay a monthly fee of $.7.68
