Uncyclopedia talk:Consensus

From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia

Many protected or semi-protected pages have editing disabled in order to preserve consensus on contentious topics. As a result, many featured articles are either protected or semi-protected

Consensus, by its very nature, can and does frequently change. Consensus is prevented by protecting a page because it is saying "this is the correct version - people can't change it because that goes against a group of people who decided it was great two years ago". Wikis can be edited, but edits can be reverted.

Protection should be used for policies and heavily vandalised pages. The cabal can't stop the signal....

recte[edit source]

Protecting a page is like saying: "This is the correct version [and] you can't change it because we said so." Wikis, however, are by their very nature – if not by definition – meant to be changed (and often).

Consensus likewise can and does change. Protection should be used only for policies and heavily vandalised pages ...

@Brogo13: why do you say that here, though? this article isn't protected in any way; I can freely edit it while logging out of my account. plus, most of the time a page an article is protected on Uncyclopedia is only inaccessible to non-registered users, but few pages are actually fully admin-protected. and I do agree that wikis are meant to be changed, which is something Uncyclopedia doesn't break. @DaniPine3: I didn't say it (it's unsigned).
Please click the section heading. --Brogo13 (talk) 16:50, 23 November 2024 (UTC) p.s.
@Brogo13: ah, I didn't realize you were referring to the upper coment. I feel it's kinda weird to correct a comment written more than 15 years ago by an user who I doubt is still here with us, but well, you do you I guess. DaniPine3 (talk) 16:54, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
@DaniPine3: Shifty.gif You too. – Preceding unsigned comment added by Brogo13 (talk • contribs)
@Brogo13: Why are you randomly bringing up crap from a different wiki here? That’s technically a blockable offense, not to mention your whimsical communication. MrX blow me Emoji-drool.gif 17:07, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
@MrX: tbf, I don't think he's bringing anything about a different wiki this time, he's just pointing out the meaning of 'recte' (I think). But it's true I genuinely don't know what he's trying to communicate here; he then brings his note about reverting without comment when it has nothing to do with this talkpage plus I don't usually revert Brogo's edits that much (I just ignore them and let someone else judge if they're acceptable or not). I wish he would write actually coherent sentences sometime, it'd be nice. DaniPine3 (talk) 17:24, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
@DaniPine3: You're right, indeed I was "just pointing out". You're also right about ... Anyway, my bad. --Brogo13 (talk) 18:44, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
