Creating useless redirects[edit source]
Willy on Wheels! On Wheels! CUN (Babbling ~ Recent ramblings) 14:49, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
| Humour: | 5.5 | Nothing really to write home about per se, the first half is the humor, and the last half seems to be more a commentary on reality. Which is totally legitimate, its about time somebody finally talked about all the random little redirects. You would have hated to know that recently there was over 50 redirects to Slapallalla Cacatonedtucan or whatever its called. The humor is a little random and seems to focus on Roman history, which could work but it doesn't really go in deep enough and just throws out the names of random Roman emperors. Either way, this seems more like one of the unignorable policies on here, which is fine, but it also doesn't feel official? Maybe some ways to make it "look" official are by copying all the ignorable policy boxes and whatnot, and using fakecat and those templates to really sell the illusion of it being one of those "WP:R3" or "UN:WIP" and similar. Could also do a section on "current examples", "past examples", and "most egregious redirects"... there's a truly insane amount of awful ones in the huff logs. |
| Concept: | 7 | concept is fine too! its not really done to its full potential, but it gets the idea across. I'd say its quite creative, and you could easily go further. Some ideas to expand would be (like i said earlier) examples of bad redirects and then some more sections in the history part. I know it skips from the fall of Rome to 2001, but there's soooo much potential lost here. THEN, the really easy idea here: instead of having words linked to their pages, try linking words that DON'T have linked pages by "redirecting" them to random pages. Example: Palantir instead of Palantir. |
| Prose and formatting: | 6.5 | Prose is fine. I don't see spelling or grammar errors, the ONLY issues are some broken links... (NOT the intentional ones!). The intro paragraph does feel a little bit too short, but I think that's ok since it sort of functions like a topic sentence. Sorta. It couldddd be better is what i'm saying, but it does work as-is. Just kinda "eh". |
| Images: | 7 | Images are ight. They are all kinda really small for some reason, but thats what cmd+ is for i suppose... |
| Miscellaneous: | 6.5 | pee aggregate score |
| Final Score: | 32.5 | So! overall, this is pretty solid as-is, but there's tons of room for improvement. The history section focuses too much on the big name Roman emperors, and then skips straight to Wikipedia's creation. And there's no examples!!! Willy on Wheels is famed on here for their terrible acts of vandalism, but the only mention seems to be that "they made useless redirects." Basically, this just needs examples, and then needs to look more official, as right now its a confusing mix between "actual" UN:policy and some random historical talk. The question that needs to be answered in most of the history sections is WHY did people make them? WHY was it popular? WHY did the emperors care enough to curtail it? WHY did Willy make so many? Lots of things here are just stated, with nothing to explain why they are even there. The 5 big questions that need to be answered in every article (or at least an attempt) are WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, and HOW. we're just missing the WHY and HOW. |
