UnNews talk:Dictators hail Jewish peace plan
This article is nothing more than a piece of political slander with no grain of humor in it. ~ 22:15, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think the humour is in the hyperlinks.
- No, I think it makes it worse. Were I not Israeli, I would have moved it into userspace on grounds of NRV. ~ 22:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think you may be over-reacting. Its a reasonably decent satire, and those first couple of hyperlinks made me laugh out loud. -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Well, I don't think so. And I think it shows of ignorance. ~ 22:27, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would suggest if you find the subject matter too personal to your beliefs to do what I do in those matters, which is nothing. If I can't see that I would take a balanced view on things I think its better for everyone if I just walk away and ignore it. But that's just me. -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Everyone has their own way to react. But you and I grew up in entire different universes. You, in the UK and I in a place which many people think it's still legitimate to throw all of its occupants into the ocean. So forgive me if I have a need to vent. Six years in the army, massacring pure defenseless people does that to your brain. ~ 22:38, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's... That's though, Mordillo. I feel like abandoning this even more now. 23:17, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- You are absolutely right, we are from entirely different universes. In mine part of my family have been split down religious lines for as long as I can remember, making me a child of two worlds. In my world I've spent most of my adult life living less than 20 minutes drive from the locations of two of the most famous terrorist events to take place on English soil, with the constant fear that your home town might be next. I've had family and friends serve not just in NI but also in places like Bosnia coming back with stories that would turn your hair white. In my world I've been attacked for my surname and heritage. I've been spat at, and worse, for my religious beliefs. For 10 years I, and others, genuinely feared losing our children because of the ignorance of others. So yes, we do live in different worlds, though I imagine we'd still share a lot in common.
- However, I happen to think that humour should not be restricted by anything. Maybe good taste, but then again that may be too limiting. Laughter is a human reaction that knows no bounds. It transcends regional disputes, religious differences and any of those other little things that we use to try to seperate people from each other. That's why I would defend anyone's right to choose any subject no matter how painful it may be for me or how much it insults my beliefs. I appreciate that I have not walked a mile in your mocassins but neither have you for anyone else. That's one of the things that makes this world such a wonderful place... :)
- Now lighten up, Jew Boy, or I'll get one of those Palestinian kids to bounce a rock off your head.... -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Observe that I a.did not prevent his right to finish this article. I don't have to like it. b. I did not claim to walk in anyone shoes. I did claim to dislike people who know nothing about my home other than what they hear in the news and then create a whole agenda around it. c. I don't have any problem with sarcastic or gallows humor, as you well know I think. This, however, is not humor in my view. But hell, this whole discussion will not lead anywhere and it will just tick me off further. So let's leave it at that. ~ 00:36, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Lets get back to the matter at hand, which is that this article is not funny, at all, even with the hyperlinks. The author has a good point, but uncylopeida isn't here for us to ponder and discuss recent events...theres plenty of serious political forums on the internet for that. As satire it is clumsy and heavy handed, and, most importantly, unamusing. – Preceding unsigned comment added by Squiems (talk • contribs)
- Hmm, but you do think that jokes about sexually abusing children is? "uncylopeida isn't here for us to ponder and discuss recent events" ??? IT'S CALLED UNNEWS! Dude, I should probably ban you for vandalising our Image use policy, but to be honest I'm just laughing at you too hard to do it. MrN 21:18, Jun 15
- On further inspection, I think the humour is in the author trying to satirize a serious topic and ending up looking rather silly or maybe even stupid with the article's message obviously being false. 21:28, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't see how this is offensive to Jews or Israelis, and quite humorous if a bit to the dark side. It is clear the UnNews article outlines the irony in Netanyahu's call for peace negotiations "without preconditions" and then outlining some unfair conditions on the Palestinians. --Aizmov 06:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I dont understand why we're arguing over the political merits or offensiveness of the article. If you're offended, you're an idiot. If you think it's funny...you're an idiot. If you can't recognize the hypocritical and unfunny nature of both sides of the argument...then I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. And thanks for exposing my vandalism leading to its deletion Mr. N. I can only pray that it confused a few idiots in its time. Squiems 06:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
