Chaos ensued at this year's Miss Universe ceremony, when a blunder by the host meant that the award was given to a 47-year-old toilet worker.
The real winner of the paegant, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, was denied her moment of glory when host Steve Harvey accidentally named Pia Almanzo Wertsbich, a hideous ogre of a woman who sculpts urinals in the Filipino capital, Manila, as the winner.
Harvey immediately apologised for the slip, but by then it was too late. The world's media had travelled to the Gentleman's facilities, Malacañang Park, where Wertsbich was testing out a new prototype urinal bowl. She was handed the official crown, sceptre, sash and smoking pipe.
Despite the unexpected nature of the award, she seemed to take it all in her stride, saying: "I have worked hard my whole life with little reward, wondering when I was going to get my recognition. And here it is, I am the prettiest girl in all the universe!"
Efforts to persuade Wertsbich to return the award to the rightful winner fell on deaf ears. "If they want it back, they can get a teaspoon and eat my asshole," she told us, before wishing UnNews readers a merry Christmas.
