Clarkson, one of Britain's intellectual heavyweights.

British political heavyweight Jeremy Clarkson has denied saying the N-word during a filmed karaoke session in which he sang NWA's classic hit, Straight Outta Compton.

The claims come soon after other archive footage was released of Clarkson on his thought-provoking show, Top Gear, in which he apparently could be seen shouting "Niggaz!" while struggling with wind resistance during a race.

Clarkson allegedly elongating the second syllable of the n-word.

Clarkson, who usually revels in the controversy caused by his "old-fashioned" views, took the unusual step of uploading a video of himself on Twitter. In it, he said, "A couple of years ago I recorded an item for Top Gear in which I sang the song 'Straight Outta Compton'.

"Now of course I was well aware that in the best known version of this song there are numerous instances of a racist expression that I was extremely keen to avoid. At several points I mumbled where the offensive word would normally occur and in others I replaced it altogether with the words teacher, figure, pig, and tractor.

"When I viewed this footage several weeks later I realised that in one of the mumbled versions, it did appear that I'd actually used the word I was trying to obscure. I was mortified by this.

"It is a word I loathe and I did everything in my power to make sure that version did not appear in the programme that was transmitted.

"Now will you lezzas and poofs please stop going on about it."
