Whoops! Maybe you were looking for Raiden Shogun?
Raiden's female form in Boretal Kombat 1

Raiden used to be the eternal God of Thunder until Liu Kang took Raiden's god status away from him and became a mere mortal working on a farm in a remote Chinese village. Despite this, he is still able to use his thunder powers as a farmer. His next-door neighbor is Kung Lao, who would harvest plants using his signature hat blade. He is also one of the earliest existing playable gods in a fighting game. However, he keeps dying every time you beat him in a battle, which is why removing his god status might make much sense.

He first appeared in the original Boretal Kombat game in the 1990s. Every time he does a move, he will say something, which we'll get to later on. In all of his appearances, he wears some sort of black head covering that also covers his hair and a straw hat. This doesn't seem to be the case in Boretal Kombat 1, though.

Powers and abilities[edit | edit source]

As mentioned, Raiden can use his thunder powers to summon lightning. However, if you play the Invasions game mode in Boretal Kombat 1, in some fights, he will summon storms throughout the night. He can also summon lightning skulls from both sides, cause thunderstorms and even rain electric brains. In all of the games he has appeared, he says things that have absolutely nothing to do with his powers, such as "give me all your money" and "I need the sauce". Both of these statements can cause one to think if Raiden has robbed any banks before. He is also able to teleport and fly as well.

There are multiple variations of him that exist. The good Raiden spews blue-colored lightning. The bad Raiden's appearance is extremely different, since his eyes can glow red and his skin looks like that of a zombie. He also utilizes lightning the same color as his eyes. Any person with Raiden's powers are able to spew white-colored lightning. There's not a lot of significance to what that means, since they're obviously not the real Raiden.

Raiden is able to turn his opponents into random game employees that have worked on the Boretal Kombat series over the years. However, it takes time and dedication to able to pull off that trick. He is also able to summon his younger self, Kidd Thunder.

Fatalities[edit | edit source]

In the first Boretal Kombat game, Raiden would send a surge of electricity into the opponent's head until it explodes. Over time, on occasion, he would say the same statements during his fatalities, which can come off as threats. All of his fatalities involve electricity in one way or another. As if that wasn't enough, he could also send a gaping hole through the opponent's stomach through his powers and then separate the body with his powers while blood rains from within. The other fatality simply turns them into a skeleton while Raiden flies through the skeleton, crushing it.

Out of all of the fatalities, there are three that are simply named "Electrocution". The first variant makes him grab his opponent and sends electricity through their body, which causes them to explode. The second variant lodges his hands over the opponent's chest and shocks them using a staff. The third variant simply burns off the opponent's flesh which leaves them their skeleton.

He could also kill himself in one of his fatalities by charging up a ball of energy similar to the Kamekameha from Dragon Ball, except that instead of just simply killing the opponent, it also kills him too.

Theme song[edit | edit source]

In Boretal Kombat 1, all kharacters have their own theme song. As if this couldn't be obvious enough for him...
